Dave
According to Autocar the RSR project has been dropped.. Audi are going to follow the lines of a large sports coupe... It goes on to say that Audi felt that the RSR was too similar to the baby lambo. Sad news if true. Dave
Veracocha
That is very annoying. That looked as though it could be Audi's first proper sports car and they just bin it. Audi are not in touch with what we want.
s4dreamer
That stuffs PhilT up a treat then - he's had 500 notes down for one for ages (sorry Phil, looks like you'll have to be content with a new RS4 instead). Definitely looked the dogs, but way, way out of my price range.
Riz
Yep bad news if its true.........
Blue
[ QUOTE ] he's had 500 notes down for one for ages [/ QUOTE ] sounds like he has to get a lambo then COMON phil, go get a lambo!!!!!
Riz
Yeah Phil a lambo............. but remember, no more RS246 northern meets lol
sidicks
Disappointing, I agree but...... Maybe they will build a version of the Nuvolari concept car instead, which I'm more likely to be able to afford.....!! sidicks
Riz
[ QUOTE ] Maybe they will build a version of the Nuvolari concept car instead [/ QUOTE ] Thats what im thinking, but the RSR looked much betta!
Woppum
Yeah, no RSR but the Nuvolari Quattro sounds amazing. You get a good choice of engines, starting with the 450bhp biturbo from the RS6. The best engine will be the one form the new baby lambo but with the brake upped from 5 to 600bhp. Comon that sounds good. It is also set to be practicle fitting at least 2 in the back, sounds good to me...
sidicks
If there's room for kids in the back, I might just be able to justify it to the other half...... Probably can only afford the wimpy (450bhp ?!) version, though !! sidicks
Woppum
Yeah mate whimpy, i reon it will still make the 60 sprint in sub 5 secs with 450, the 600 should be f***ing fast!!! Hers a pic of the RSR, you probably already have lods but anyway:
sidicks
OK, 450 bhp = relatively wimpy ! Re the pic, - Isn't this the 'Rosemeyer' concept on which the RSR was based - there is a picture of a blue RSR (used in Autocar, I think) that looks even nicer (I used to have it as my wallpaper on my PC, but it got lost when my hard drive crashed). sidicks
Woppum
Sorry, you are right, well spotted, well here is the correct image:

sidicks
That's the one - VERY nice ! Still, the Nuvolari is a good substitute, with space for important additions like golf clubs, the other half, etc ! sidicks
Woppum
I think i prefur it, the RSR is great looking but a bit flash for me. The Nuvolari hits the spot
sidicks
Hopefully the production version keeps the distinctive looks of the concept. Due out in 2005 / 2006 if I remember correctly ? sidicks
Woppum
Knowing Audi it will be a great car and with those looks and that engine, it will better the competition.
sidicks
Well, with the S4 Coupe not due until 2004 and probably more likely 2005, and the Nuvolari due in 2005/206, I thought I'd better get down to the dealers to express some interest. They didn't want to take any money - but have me down at the top of an 'unofficial list'. When more info comes in (or if others start trying to place deposits) they'll let me know and give me the choice to sign up 'properly'. This way I've I can see how things develop and then choose between taking the S4 Coupe or waiting maybe another year for the Nuvolari. The new RS4 we also be in the frame at that time. choices, choices !! sidicks
vagman
I,m sure that the Nuvolari, if it makes it into production, will be a great car, but I like the look of the RSR much more.
Woppum
Does anyone have any pics of the rsr from the inside?
sidicks
Not sure there is one ! sidicks
Ari
Think the Nuvolari is much more "Audi", ie very fast but subtle designer sports coupe. The RSR was a nice idea, but fits in more with what Lamborgini is all about, not Audi.
Woppum
I think it may have been to flash and expencive for Audi, so it does not fit in to the market. Making a mosel to compete with its brother the Lambo may not have been the best idea also because there are bot that many sales in thsi market anyway. PhilT
Sorry guys, been busy. RSR canned Lambo I'll have to have a word. Haven't had time yet. I think I'd be interested to see if they do an RS Nuvolari.....
