MKV GTi Mods

9 posts in this topic

Trying to get a list together of reasonable mods that can be made to a MKV GTi. I'm not looking for tears to start coming out of the head lights like the old adverts but good feedback and prices on colour coding bumpers, Remap, ICE upgrades, wheels/tyres etc etc would be great.

Thanks in advance.

If you like the look of the standard alloys then I think the OZ Opera (I think thats the name) 3 wheel would look good on the GTi as its a bit similar but available in some fairly big sizes.

As for body styling I would check out the Caracterre kit (see www.rsdcars-uk.co.uk) as I think this is more like what the GTi should have looked like.

AmD would be a very good place to start for mods 169144-ok.gif

Withthe wheels you will find that very few the new GTI at the moment..so the choice is quite limited.

Been told the fitment is ET42 if that helps.

A bit wild... but they also do other stuff.. such as a 30HP, 50NM remap...

Here is their on-line shop... (it's in german... but quite easy german wink.gif )

hint : felgen = wheels , Karosserie = Body work, Fahrwerk = Suspension, Zubehor = Misc, Abgastechnik = Exhaust stuff (Auspuff)

The problem with ABT for me is the 'quality' aspect - dunno if you ever saw their big TT kit, there was one at a show a couple of years back and the finish was dreadful, considering the cost I was amazed anyone every purchased one.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Has anyone looked at retro fitting VW soundpack, Highline or Lux/Winter Pack etc etc after delivery? Is this possible and/or do you know of any dealers/specialists who would do it?

Taking delivery on Saturday of exisitng order (no waiting) so hand no choice on the options but has leather, arm rest CD & 5 door black pearl which were all must haves! A bit gutted about not having the 18's but that's life smile.gif

Oh one thing I forgot to mention is that a lot of the stuff from RSD is now approved by VW UK (You can actually purchase some of it through a limited number of dealers) so this should help if it ever came to body work claims.

CRJ 1 - rather than shelling out for the Soundpack (which no dealers seem to know anything about...), I'm upgrading the stereo with replacement front speakers (Rainbow 3-way, which are made for the MkV Golf so fit straight in with no modifications) and a decent 2 way amplifier. This will cost about the same as Soundpack, but will hopefully sound alot better.
