CabGirl
I spotted this one a few days ago – the DVLA sold it around 15 years ago for 34k! A gold star for the first person to name the location.

NewNiceMrMe
Ah, that's not so.... I recognised the plate. It was bought in 1989, but not for £34,000. It was £350,000!!!!!!! Check it out, because it made the BBC NEWS I give in on the location though and I've racked my brain and tried zooming in on the picture for clues! Where is it then? CabGirl
Julie with a black bolt was only £2,600! JUL 1F £2,600 Sold in Sep 1990
malagus
CAT 1 is currently up for sale for £120,000!!! thats a stupid price IMO
Ari
There are a lot of mad prices asked for number plates. Always remember, asking a figure for a plate doesn't automatically mean it will achieve that figure. That said, CAT 1 is a good plate.
CabGirl
[ QUOTE ] Check it out, because it made the BBC NEWS [/ QUOTE ] They also list R1 CKY which I saw last week as well!

v15ben
CAT1 was up at £95k for months on end in magazines and never sold, hence increasing the price by £25k, not sure how that works!!
v15ben
Have seen TON1C on an old Mark 2 Golf running round London before, surely a plate worth more than the car and then some

NewNiceMrMe
I once saw David Beckham driving out of Old Trafford when he had a Black Ferrari 355 Spyder with the plate DAV 1D. I believe he still owns the plate but the 355 has been long gone.

Ari
I'm not sure why, but I find plates spelling out first names slightly naff. I can see the attraction of DAV1D, but with unlimited funds I'd much much rather have DB1 (or DB plus any single number). I'd always prefer initials on a plate rather than a name. As I say, can't really explain why...

My friends always call me Thorb so I'm always tempted to buy one that says 4 ORB, J40 RBN (James Thorburn) was only £250 when I checked earlier today so I could be tempted..... Thorburn
Well my friends took to calling me 4 ORB at school (really, they actually said FOUR ORB), so I would be tempted! I know its pathetic but about 3 or 4 people would find it funny and thats good enough for me I doubt JUL1E's name is Jul One Eee either but the owner paid a six figure sum for it so mine seems positively reasonable....
