Passat Boot Locking Problem

2 posts in this topic

Hi,

I've got an early year 2000 Passat with a boot lock which works intermittently. I'm on the third motorised locking mechanism in as many weeks none of which have managed to work properly for more than four days. This motorised mechanisn simply jams and when removed from the boot lid requires quite an effort to free up. Once freed and reinstalled it continues to work for another three or four days before packing in again. Is this a pet fault or is there any way to solve it. All advice appreciated.

Is the locking pin on the boot aligned properly with the lock? I suspect a misalinged pin could be catching on the lock mechanism!

Otherwise it seems odd that 4 locking mechanisms have all packed in!

Have you just bought the car (any history of accident damage to the boot)?

Have you tried checking that the required voltage is getting to the motorised lock?

If you have a short of some kind then your motors could be getting frazzled!

It might be the time to take it to your dealer, before you fork out for another 4 lock mechanisms!

Good luck mate crazy.gif
