jason_s
hey guys, car is still in final assembly stage 7. went into dealers a week and a half ago and he showed me on his pc that it was in final assembly stage 7. he said it should be finished by monday or tuesday this week. I phoned him today and its still the same stage 7. didnt think it would take 1 and a half to two weeks to assemble. anyone know why this may be? thought the waiting would get easier....how wrong i was. just sold my car today so im without transport
SamD
I know the feeling, I sold my car about 2 months back, and with any luck I get my car on Thursday this week. Mine seemed to fly through assembly but then sit @ "Awaiting Shipping" for ages (about 2 weeks)
SMB
Sam that;s strange, mine was built a few days after yours ( as per your posts), and arrived at dealers wednesday picked up today.
SamD
I think it is all luck of the draw, and how quick the stealer is at delivering to you once it is in the country. Mine is obviously not as good as yours.
jason_s
how long is fly through assembly ? dont unerstand how it can stay on final assembly stage 7 (the last stage so my dealer tells me) for 2 weeks. i never used to be this impatient

SamD
The whole process just seems a bit random to me (I am sure it is not really, but there don't seem to be any rules to follow with regards to how long it takes to build/deliver/etc etc)
jason_s
thanks sam, thought they might have dropped it or something and are having to re assemble

Simonl
It will be black, when it arrives in 10 weeks. Not many round here are there? I've seen a couple of Black ones, a red one and a silver and that's it! My spec is very similar to yours, except mine will be 5dr and have Nav Currently bombing around in a 1.8T GTI, i'll keep an eye out! Is your Missus more excited about M&S than the car, mine is!!!! RedRobin
Hi guys....Those waiting and wondering about delays - Sounds like the gap between final build and shipping from Germany. There seems to be no UK monitoring of the German dockside waiting - Boats are only one per week (I was told) and it's the luck of the draw. I 'lost' over 2 weeks on the German dockside. jason_s
just says final assembly stage 7 for 2 weeks now. am not impressed
RedRobin
Hi Jay - You up late like me - I expect that yours will ship to UK any day soon. The shipping stage is the worst cos no-one seems to be able to track it accurately....It's not knowing that hurts.
jason_s
yeah, this gti is causing me many sleepless nights, but it will be woth it in the end. dealer said it would go into another stage (awaiting shipment or something first)
