7MAT
Are VW about to increase the power output of the Golf GTI? In this months Performance VW magazine (page 91) there's a running report by Ben Leach on the MK5 GTI. It mentions that he hopes to recieve delivery of a new GTI with 240bhp in January? Anyone got any more news on this? 7MAT
RedRobin
240bhp as an option or standard I wonder. I also wonder if such an increase is with or without any other 'platform' mods. Do 'Performance VW' mag have a web addy? I don't know the magazine.
Simonl
I doubt it, not with the R32. It would definately harm sales. I reckon it will arrive, but in late 06, as the Anni.
shipper1
I'm sure I read a post on another forum from someone in Singapore or Hongkong,(I think!),who said they could specify a remapped GTI direct from the dealer. This would certainly tie in with the 240bhp figure. Perhaps there are plans afoot to launch an "STI" style version? You know, factory authorised upgrade...mmmm
Simonl
No doubt VW will charge £1500 for what AMD could do for £
Tunner
Oettinger re-map gives around this performance? http://www.oettinger.de/bilder/3818.jpeg http://www.oettinger.de/index2_e.htm
Simonl
Even with the remap, the performance figures are no better than some of the figures i've seen for stock cars (6.7 to 60). No doubt real world performance is vastly improved though! While i'm on figures. Autocar has the 0-60 time of the GTI down at 7.

aswall
Yes the car is available in some markets with this amount of power, from the dealer. We have a member on here from Iceland who has one
Tunner
Oettinger work closely with VW, so I would think that the two re-maps are rather similar? I understand that whilst the Oettinger re-map figures on paper do not set the world alight, the codes from your own ECU are sent to Oettinger, the re-map is then based upon your orginal ECU codes. The result is a Golf with a very good torque and BHP power band even compared to the orginal!
shao_khan
Well I had also heard that VW Racing were about to offer their products to the open market - this would also give you aroudn the 240 mark as well.
