Simonl
Anyone read Chris Harris's article on page 57 in Autocar today... what a blinder!
SamD
Nope, what is it about? Is it worth buying?
Simonl
[ QUOTE ] Nope, what is it about? Is it worth buying? [/ QUOTE ] Chris Harris, who normally only reviews Supercars/porsches etc, says that the GTI is the best car you can buy today. Nothing but praise praise praise! Only a 1 page article, but worth the £2.20 i'd say

jamiey
And then what's his face sutcliffe will say the Astra VXR is a better drive and it doesn't matter that if you floor it you go sideways through the next available hedge. Funny it's just like the old Astra GTE 16 vs the MKII GTI 16v, grunt vs poise.
Simonl
At least it's up there though, not laughed at by the jap and French hatches!

Was a great advert for the mk2 Golf GTI back then and would work great again today with the newer versions.

Are there any online archives of VW ads?
SamD
Just bought Autocar. That is exactly the sort of article that I wanted to read 2 days before collecting my car

aswall
My favourite Autocar piece of fiction was earlier this year when the banner was "Ford reintroduces the Scorpio" When you read the article inside, it was about a people carrier the size of a Transit, which was a concept only at that stage, that bore no resemblance to any Granada or Scorpio and that had at no time been referred to by anyone connected with Ford, or indeed the writer of the article as a Scorpio. They make up so much crap just to try and sell the mag
ian_m
I agree, Autocar is full of Sh1t!!! The stories are hardly ever accurate, like the 30k boxster coupe that ended up at over 50k absolute drivel!!!
jamiey
I still get it each week but I'm finding that I'm reading it less and less. I get Car, Evo, Classic and Sportscar and Octane.
DB6Vantage
I only get Octane. What is on the cover of this issue of Autocar? We don't get them at the same time here and I don't want to buy Autocar for nothing!
Simonl
Yeh but i want a weekly, and prefer Autocar to Auto Express. Anyway, look at the pictures, read the articles (then iginore them) and work out for yourself what to believe... that's how i digest it.
jamiey
Auto Express is utterly utterly dreadful. The funny thing is when Car Magazine tried a weekly it was awful too.
CarMad
[ QUOTE ] People BUY Autocar? [/ QUOTE ] Yep.. best weekly by a mile, and second to EVO IMO. Have read them all from time to time but if I only got EVO and Autocar I would be more than happy.
simkna
I Agree. I subscribe to both Evo and Autocar. Si.
