No, it would mean that assuming the correct top speed is 145 the clock would read 155-ish (as yours did). But, does it really matter?

your right robin (as usual <sigh>) it doesnt really matter but i just wanted to compare the exhaust system were proud of to the stock figures.

Are you thinking that our beloved Millteks increase the GTI's top speed? Or have I misunderstood you? I know that they can improve efficiency and performance in terms of acceleration and response (only slightly) but top speed?

i would certainly think so. simple physics ? the lack of back pressure from the exhaust would allow the engine to produce more BHP. this not only increases acceleration but also amount of power to overcome wind resistance and therefore the top speed. even at 156 the car wasn't redlining.

one of my mates from spain after sending him a picture of my car, front and back, sent me over a little present.... fecking fluffy dice and to top it off they plug into the cigarette lighter and light up.

Red, I would have it checked out because that is too far out in my opinion. When I am seeing 100 on the GPS I see 104ish on the clock.

Obviously the above was on private roads.
