kurgan
Hi, My speedo over reads by 5/6mph, (I checked it with GPS) and if I set the speed warning alert I have to be doing 5mph > than the speed it is set at before it goes off. I asked the dealer to take a look, and they say it has no errors or issues and there is nothing to change or adjust anyway, "that's just the way it is". Is there really nothing to adjust the speedo calibration? Do they all over read by so much? Can anyone point me to any 'legal' doc that governs the tolerances of speedo readings? MOT limits? Thanks, K ****************************************** '04 A6-C6 3.2Q FSI SE, Stratus Blue Pearl
gizze
Allowed up to 10% over but 0% under, so the manufacturer will be cautious. If you get caught for speeding Audi doesn't want to take the blame, think about it.
rmmacauley
Any car I have driven has had a speedo error of about 4mph at 40mph.
gizze
I have to say, only the S320cdi my dad has at the mo has been pretty much spot on, at 130mph it is still less than 2mph out compared to his gps.

gizze
You can get it closer by changing your wheel/tyre combo so they are out of spec.
grahamb
Dont forget GPS isn't accurate on slopes, only on true flat surfaces.
kurgan
Thanks for the replies. I guess I can really insist the speedo is correct, however the speed warning should go off at the indicated speed. K
Shorty
Have you recently changed the size of your wheels, this can give a different reading on the speedo, check this website out. Tyre calculator
