The engine number may be on a sticker on the cambelt cover (wherever that is).

As he bought it off a dealer he never checked so does not know.

Pincher, or anyone who is viewing this thread have the answer to this quandry???

This may be too late to be of any help but I just traded my 03Cupra up to an 05 Cupra R to be sure to get a good one before they dry up - from a dealer in St Albans Herts and got it for less than I paid for my first Cupra. Dealer allowed £8500 for the trade in which only had 13000 miles on and full DSH. But they had 12 cars in from Seat HQ as ex managers vehicles all 6 months old and they sold vv quickly after which the sales manager found another 6 slightly newer ones that were on forecourt at £15750 and he wasnt budging on the price.

Both cars in platinum Grey.

Heres a page out of my hand book -

No worries 169144-ok.gif

Well done on your purchase, you won't regret it.

As you bought a black one, you may want to go here for a bit of a read smile.gif

PM sent too.

Agre, Black is one of the best clours when its in tip top condition, shiny and sparkling...... but its a bi7ch to keep clean and requires a bit of effort (as I'm now finding out)

Bit late but on the subject of price tumble i don't really see it. There was a drop when the new leons came out and when SEAT then suddenly knocked £2500 off the list price of the mk1 leon cupra R to clear stock, that hurt secondhand cars that did. But i cannot see it tumbling again, often you find they start to level off and i see that happening now.

I do see the LCR dropping when the new leon cupra has been out a couple of years and becomes ready available on the second hand market but thats a while off yet.

oh, I think every fault has been covered by everyone else but theres a big one i did not see anyone else say.

The water pump.

Keep an eye on your water temp as the water pump is a week spot, the propellor is known to fall off the shaft or even shatter so you then get overheating problems. I had my replaced ones and a mate has had his Octavia vRS one done 3 times and his present LCR done once. I think theres now a modified pump to cure this and i hope both ours have it.

A mate just bought a brand new black 225 LCR from Seat dealer in Whitedove Seat in Cardiff for £15K, 10 miles on the clock with all the usual warranties. They had a couple more in stock which went pretty quickly. Seat are getting rid of old stock, but from what I've seen this price drop has not yet filtered down into the 2nd hand market, people still seem to want £13-£14K for a year old car with average mileage thinking that its worth £18K new, but with a new LCR at £15K there should be more of a fall for used......eventually.....

SEAT dropped the RRP down to £15515 a few months back iirc to clear stock so your mate got another £515 off 169144-ok.gif
