winrya
Hi, I've had the GTI for 9 weeks now and one thing i am really missing is cruise control. I've just spoken to my local dealer and they will fit it to my car for £170 which sounds very reasonable to me. What do you guys think? stevie_d
Think that's cheaper than a factory fitted option? If you'll use it on a regular basis then £170 is a very good price and it looks like you've used cruise before, so I'd get it fitted mate
winrya
Yea had it on my previous alfa and thought it was brilliant in areas of speed cameras and 30,40,50,60 limits where i always find myself concentrating so much on the speedo as to not get flashed, cruise takes a bit of stress out of driving, just set at the limit and concentrate on the road, traffic and conditions. Im due a service in 500 miles and ive been quoted £150 for the 1st service, sounds quite reasonable to me, is this the norm? Think I'll get cruise fitted at the same time
oxfordlad
Someone got it done for 150 all in at a dealer (read it just on UKMKIVS) so tell them that and I am sure they will discount it a bit.. Remember, they want your business. The kit alone costs only 50 quids

TwoSheds
Turn it on whilst driving, get to speed required. Press upper rocker switch on stalk end to set that speed. You can also adjust speed up or down by single push of the appropriate switch on stalk end having already set a previous speed say.
billy2shots
Is it the same way for DSG Highline? Or can you seta speed and the car gets up to that speed?
TwoSheds
1. Yes. 2. No, the car just maintains the speed you've 'set' once you're there.

billy2shots
Thats piss poor. In BM's and Merc's you can be doing 10mph, set the cruise to 90 and the car takes off. I take it that if u brake, accelerate it disingages.
nhs
The other thing to watch out for is the slowest speed the cruise can do - with more and more 20mph limits, be sure that the retrofit you get will do this!
TwoSheds
If its a VW OEM unit it will.
