R4V_S3
Hey everyone, you were so friendly and knowledgable to help fix my last problem, my car has decided to test you (AND ME!) yet again... I Had a misfire in cylinder 2 a month or so back, and changed ALL plugs, and ALL coil packs.. this sorted it out. The other day i was driving.. 1st gear - fine.. 2dg gear - okish... 3rd gear - judder judder, jerk jerk... all the way up to 6th gear when the revs hit 2.5k... What is that about??? Have scanned it, and these are the error codes, which seems nothing to do with the "misfire" Address 22 ------------------------------------------------------- Controller: 02D 900 554 B Component: HALDEX LSC ECC 0006 2 Faults Found: 65535 - Internal Control Module Memory Error 00-00 - - 00526 - Brake Light Switch-F 27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent The problem i am getting does not seem like coil packs again, as i find it is VERY random.. some gears are ok, sometimes all gears are ok... strange plus it idles fine.. Any ideas please?? Thanks you
sitas3
well according to the error code, you definitely seem to have a Haldex ECU error there. The brake light one, I get that sometimes (and I ignore it) but It could be due to a brake light switch problem which disengages the Haldex electronically... sitas3
Also, have you tried clearing the code and seeing if the problem goes away? Probably not related but...
R4V_S3
Would a haldex error cause the symptoms described do you think?? I am not noticing anything wrong with th 4wd/cornering, especially as i can launch it in 1st with no spin whatsoever..and no misfire!
R4V_S3
Cleared the codes mate, but the one i listed is the only one still appearing I went for such a nice long drive on saturday, it was perfect all day long.. bugger

[/ QUOTE ] possibly - the brake light switch is an input into the ECU - if it is playing up then this could cause the haldex ECU to alternate quickly between 2wd and 4wd mode or other problems. R4V_S3
thank you for your help Sita, much appreciated.. How would you suggest solving this?
sitas3
try checking the brake switch is not loose and all electrical connectors are OK (including the Haldex coupling under the rear of the car!) Otherwise consider taking to an Audi specialist. I no-longer recommend taking your car to Audi!
R4V_S3
Bad experience with audi i take it?? I won't take it to Audi anyway.. i will take it to fontain, and judging by your location you must know them I will do as you suggested mate, thanks
sitas3
I think I'm just having an anti-Main Dealer day! Its not just Audi - we've just had to fork out £200 so that Ford can diagnose a faulty sensor which costs just £15 to replace. There isn't a 'Vag-com' for Ford so you have to take (Tow more likely) the car back to their main dealers so they can tell you what the error code is. R4V_S3
Bastids!!! They charge 200 just to scan??????? So if you have to re-scan after the sensor is replaced, do they charge again?
Mollox
Nah. And that's Ford - I think Audi charge 1/2 an hour's labour for diagnostics. That's ridiculous in itself!
sitas3
I'm currently complaining to Ford like a true tight northener! Only reason I paid the bill was because we needed the car back otherwise my Mrs wouldn't get to work!
Mo-S3
Change the brake switch first before taking it to any dealer. They are very cheap anyway and are known to break or go faulty. Not difficult to change either. Chaneg this and rescan and hopefully the DTC's should clear.
R4V_S3
I found this: http://www.uk-mkivs.net/forums/125086/ShowPost.aspx Nobody mentions the symptoms i have though..
Paul
65535 code could mean the Haldex ECU is buggered. I think (please check) that the controller needs replacing if you get this
R4V_S3
Paul is the Haldex ECU something i could change myself? I take it is only available from Stealers? Do you think it could cause a jerking whilst driving?
sitas3
I would consider getting an aftermarket Haldex peformance ECU if mine buggered up - they'll be cheaper than the Audi part IIRc and its a direct replacement.
Paul
if the haldex ecu is buggered there is a good chance your only running 2wd, which would make the wheels spin, and give very different power delivery,
R4V_S3
I can put my foot down and no wheel spin, it is running 4wd i am sure of it. Trust me this feels like a real hesitation through the revs... Just called fontain, they are booked up and will charge me £55 for an hour of their time.. R4V_S3
Paul are you on TT forum?? Posted: Wed Mar 02, 2005 9:29 pm are your brake lights working? id check this first could be the switch. I believe haldex is disengaged on braking. id also then note the code (you have above) and clear it. and see if it comes back in a couple of days. But sounds to me purely brake pedal switch related Paul's diagnosis was correct. for the record the brake light switch has 2 switches in it.. one normally open that closes when pedal is pressed (controls the brake lights) and one normally closed that opens. Both switches are connected to the Engine management unit (so one acts as a validation of the other), and this then signals this info to the ABS and Haldex over the vehicle network. The implausible signal error means that one switch appears not to be doing the opposite of the other - the intermittent means it hasn't happened more than once in three driving cycles. Clear the fault and keep monitoring it. If its continuously only reported by one controller there may be a controller specific problem, but while it stays intermittent I shouldn't worry too much. This is all well and good... but seems to have nothing to with the juddering drive! lol
R4V_S3
Would it be easier to diagnose if i tell you that the turbo is not kicking on all the time?? Some times i have accelerated and have had no boost from the turbo.. Every other time, the turbo begins to wind up then it starts jerking, and then there is just no boost afterwards. Suggestions please, this is driving me mad Only had her a couple months.. Could it be any hoses?? I believe it will be something that will not show on VAGcom.. so any idead gratefully received. Thank You Rav
