M8CKN
Spotted a beautiful example this weekend. To say this car is approx 14 years old now, it was clear somebody still loves it.

CabGirl
I spotted a silver one on the A1 near Peterborough last week.
NewNiceMrMe
Every time I see one I can't help but think 'why'? Maybe it's just me, but they've never done it for me. The interiors were absolutely awful, they were the epitomy of bodywork-extravaganza and, well, I think the world was done a favour when emission regulations sent them to their graves. CabGirl
I guess it's because one of my neighbours had one when they first came out and he was cool.
Tarmac_Terrorist
These always impressed me...they make me dislike the Focus all the more! Didn't they come with complimentary Terry Towel white socks tho?
encee
Mate of mine has one, tuned to something mental like 350 bhp, or similar. Apart from the tuning, though, the car is standard. Not something I`d buy, to be honest, but I can see where he`s coming from............

[/ QUOTE ] You have to get into the context of this - the car was a product of the mid 80's - 20 YEARS AGO..... Get your head around that and you will just come to realise what a truly great car it was, when you watched a cossie and an Intergrale head to head, you were in heaven - 2 of the best road cars around at the time. Looking at it now through new millenium glasses the car may seem to some to be a bit dated, well christalmighty it is dated..... But get an unmolested factory one without any of the Max Power add on's and you will be owning a true classic of the future. Imagine what people will be saying about the 6 series in 17 years time. Horses for course's (as they say).
NewNiceMrMe
Yes Pete...but I'm well aware of when it was produced and was driving around at the time myself... See, I love the Integrale. It's stunning, in form and function. The Cosworth just took the form ridiculously Chavastic in my opinion. The Integrale was angular, purposeful, boxy and mean - all which I find don't apply to the Cosworth. As for what people say about a 6 series, well they say it now! Love em or hate - it's a car that divides opinion for sure!
LRR
Spotted a Red Escort Cossie, pulling into Hayward Heath Police Station the other night, as the car went past I saw a young blonde lady with full police uniform! Nice example
Scotty
What was the actual performance stats on the Escort Cossie? IIRC it was around 6-6.4secs 0-60.
NewNiceMrMe
Official timings.... 0-60 in 6.2 seconds Max speed - 137mph 230bhp 225lbs torque
Scotty
Not a bad guess then! Amazing home performance keeps increasing. 6.2 is still a decent 0-60 but it's also quite common these days.
Thorburn
Theres a very original looking one parked up around the back at work most days, I think they look fantastic.

S3ENVY
A friend of mine's father had one until a couple of years ago. Monaco edition in a sort of dark metallic turquoise, gorgeous car, mint condition and sold for 16K!!!! I always loved them.
NiGhT
[ QUOTE ] Max speed - 137mph [/ QUOTE ] That cant be true surely?? The old Astra GTE 16v would do that without the turbo..
NewNiceMrMe
It's true alright. We're all so used to 155mph limiters these days that it's easy to forget the standard Escort Cosworth is rather average by comparison to a fast hot hatch these days. garcon magnifique
Wasn't that partly down to low gearing? i.e. it might only do 137mph, but it gets there quick!
