jamesXXX
i have recently bought a 2000 gti turbo, which is standard, apart from a dump valve, and exhaust. it runs fine most of the time, but cuts out now and then. can anyone recommend the best dump valve to fit to eliminate this please? cheers

RedRobin
Unfortunately such "figures of speech" make it trickier to help you.
Mollox
My remapped S3 runs fine on the Bosch OEM unit. As I understand it, the 1.8T is designed to run with a recirculating (diverter) valve and not an atmospheric dump valve which can lead to problems. Its a resillient unit these days. How can you be sure your issues relate to your dump valve though?
jamesXXX
very similar characteristics to a series rs turbo i had years ago mollox, which was sorted with a twin piston dump valve. can a standard one cope with the extra boost ok? Mollox
Yes indeed. In all honesty, its the ancilliary hoses that are far more likely to suffer high boost-related problems. I imagine I'm running more boost than you (1.5bar) and I have no cause for concern with my diverter valve. With the OEM diaphragm diverter valves failures generate a distinctive "honking" sound in most cases. With a dump valve I'm not so sure. As I understand it, certain modifications are required to the boost circuit to accomodate a dump valve - its possible that these have not been done correctly - if you're positive that the valve is to blame...?
