Alastair_A3
Anybody had a go in one of these? I think we will test drive one and compare it to the 3 series, A4 and A6 we have tested. Then finally I can order the one my wife likes the most for next year.
gizze
Yeah I have and was really surpised at how good it felt, loads of grunt. Plus DMS can take it to 210bhp and 450nm of torque, and I believe that takes the 0-60mph time down to just under 8 seconds, which is very good. The only thing that you need to consider is ditching the run flat tyres, they destroy the ride, it is 100x better wiyh proper tyres.
Alastair_A3
Well the 320d had plenty of grunt for my wife, so i assumed this cant be that much slower. Is the ride worse than the 3 series which also has run flat tyres?
PeterS
Far worse (IMO) and frankly not good enough for the class of car!! I think the suspension of the 3 was designed with runflats in mind from the outset, whereas the 5 was adapted to take them (if indeed they bothered adapting the suspension ) later. Our 1, which also has runflats, seems to have a better ride than the 5, which is just silly Weightwise, there's probably not much in it between the 3 and 5, but don't have the figures to hand. On paper the 520d doesn't look underpowered, but haven't driven one yet myself Peter
