DSG123
I have an A3 3.2 and both windows have started to rattle again. I've had it in to Audi twice for this and both times they've just lubed them. But when the lube wears off, the rattles begin. Anybody else had this problem? And know of a solution? Cheers, T
Tizzy
Had this on a previous Porsche and also once on my A4. The windows have several adjustments that can be made to the mechanism, but it obviously entails more grief for Audi as they have to remove the door card. I'd tell them to do this. I also use a BMW product called "gummipfledge" yes really - as a window rubber sealant - it's very effective.
DSG123
Thanks for that - much appreciated. I'll mention gummipfledge to the grease monkeys when I take the car in. I just hope they don't leave me with lube-smeared windows this time!
mark88
Lots of people with 8P have this problem. Including myself, lube didn't work. What they need to do is adjust the whole door. That fixed mine.
bigman
Hi, had the same prob on my a3, they replaced the window seals and tightened doors under warranty and that fixed problem. cheers
DSG123
Took car in yesterday and the chap there said it was the seals at where the top of the windows sit - the velvety strips. He said these need to be cleaned and kept lubed. I'll give it a go. Just hope I'm not being fobbed off.
A3Floyd
I would have thought that you'd not need to lube the velvety seals. I had the same prob on my old saxo and dealer fobbed me off for months with the same excuse. Eventually, i took it to another dealer who replaced the entire rubber strip. this fixed the problem. I noticed the other day that my A3 - Yes, the S4 has finally gone - has a little rattle when i get to about 90mph. I'm gonna keep an eye on it for now cos it's not a prob at lower speeds. Sounds to me like its a common prob on the A3's ???
DSG123
That's what I thought. But I'll give it a go and if it's the same, I'll take it to another Audi dealership. The service at Bradford Audi is dire - my car was taken back 4 times during the first month of buying it from them!
