Redavant
Reliant Robin for me as well, although I was getting towed in it at the time. The bets bit was when the rope snapped and I was left coasting down a dual carriageway with no steering! Also tried the capri, it was a white one and I had it for a morning while I decided whether to buy it or not. Needless to say I didn't. I couldn't live with myself if I had. Cris
[ QUOTE ] I was very proud of this at the time, although many might think it was embarassing... [/ QUOTE ] Just how much crap has been bolted onto that car I guess that the local car "accessories" shop saw you coming Anyway my worst is probably a Mk 1 Corsa. I've driven much cheaper and "crappier" cars (Renault 5 1.0l, Micra Mk 1 & 2, AX 1.4D, Colt 1.3 etc etc etc) but nothing could be close the the Corsa - at least the others acknowledged their status as cheap transport. No one claims that a Micra is a performance car but the number of people who (honestly) think that their Corsa is "something special" (bit like the driver) is amazing. Quick drop the suspension, stick on stupidly big wheels and fold the seats flat to "help" the handling
Insurance Jon
I used to drive the Dingles Transit van on emmerdale when I was a poor student. does that count as embarressing?

garcon magnifique
Let my see - I've actually owned a sloppy coloured Maestro and an invalid carriage blue Datsun Bluebird... Not sure if I've driven anything more embarrassing than those (if that is actually possible). Friend of mine had a brown Austin Ambassador as a company car once. Sparticus
Beige Metro 1.3L as a company car. I was doing 1000 miles a week and this completely killed it after only 6 months and 3 new engines. Total bag of s**t that still makes me shiver with disgust
rs32
without a doubt the Austin Montego Vanden Plas that I drove aged 20. The (metal) sunroof flew out of it's mountings at 70mph on the motorway, was run over by a lorry and I had to suffer the shame of parking on the hard shoulder to walk back to where it lay. A hammer and some custom-made brackets got the little bugger back in no problem
Mac
Mine is a choice of 2 - a 1.2(?) C222 VJF Vauxhall Astra - was proper pants. Main candidate is a Ford Escort Ghia 1.6(!) DAH 819Y - tacky as hell and bits kept falling off
Thorburn
I've not really driven many embarising cars, probably my ex's Rover 214Si (bubble shape) or the Seat Cordoba 1.9D (non-turbo) I learn't to drive in. The 214 was amusing if just for the fact that the front and rear suspension settings felt like they'd been tuned by two people who'd never met. wytco0
1978 (approx) Simca Van, I paid £50 for the van and £70 for insurance, went to pick it up from the garage, and drove about 400 metres before the engine seased. It never moved under its own power again. and I could not get my money back !!!

jimdiesel
I once had to drive a Smart Roadster. The car is not embarrassing at all (infact it was a great little thing), however put me in it and people pointed and laughed as I drove down the street. Imagine the scene from the Incredibles where Mr Incredible is driving his very small car.
