Newbie question I'm sure, I have tried removing the plastic covers with the springy metal thing in the boot as it seems to serve no other purpose. It works but seems a bit fiddly. What is the supposed "correct" way of removing these cap covers ???

Just slide the springy thingy down the side of the cover press the legs together and pull the cover off simple

Lol, saw your sig a while back just too lazy to PM you. Small world this t'internet lark. I've been rather prolific on X5world in the past but figured that this was a much better choice.

As for the cap covers problem, all sorted. The springy thing turned out to be the hook for pulling off the standard wheel covers. After a quick RTFM I realised that the tongs for removing the covers were missing. I needed to go to the Stealers anyway to chase up what was happening with my front bumper and why they hadn't painted some of it !!! Another story, will post pics and a thread this weekend sometime. Spoke to the service manager who took a set from the A3 in the showroom, he was quite impressed that I had managed it with the springy thing actually, lol.
