Riz
Just a quicky folks.... If using the Shell V-Max 99Ron fuel in my John Cooper cause any damage? or make mpg worse? My cuz says that becauses the car isnt designed to use 99Ron it wont make any difference, infact mpg will be down as the V-Max fuel requires to be burnt at a higher temp? sayerbloke
My car has a sticker saying it'll accept 91RON to 98RON. Optimax always worked well but when I switched to VPower the MPG fell straight away from an average of 24MPG to just over 20MPG. Didn't seem as smooth or refined either. I'm now trying Tesco 99. The engine seems to like it better, but I don't think the MPG is as good as Optimax was.
rhyds
It won't do any harm to run 99RON in your car, but i'm not sure if the MEMS engine management system is able to change the timing to make full use of the higher octane rating. RS4_Barry
I run it in my ERA turbo with lead substitute and it goes pretty well. Def won't harm the car - although your mini prob has a much more sophisticated ecu than mine!!!

rhyds
Aha, must be the same setup as early MG metro turbos with the boost control ECU, my mistake
RS4_Barry
it is the one and same. ECU is simply a glorified boost controller. Makes it a helluva a car to set up and get running right!!!
