RedRobin
Can anyone tell me please if this should have a protective cover ? It looks as if it should but seems to have been missing on mine for some time according to my earlier engine bay pics. Thanks Obviously I can ask my dealer next time I'm passing but probably won't be this side of Christmas.
mainy
Its missing a rubber sleeve Red. The fit on my one is $hit so you're probably better off using some insulating tape to seal it up once you've made sure that its nice and dry in the connector
Simonl
Knowing Red he'll proabably fork out £50 on some ABT Super Lightweight High Performance Carbon Tape.

Always thought it was a bit of a 'Heath Robinson' finish. Anyone have pics of a 'proper' OEM finish if there is one.
RedRobin
Mine has certainly been like that for a very long time (I checked all my photos) but I only just noticed it! I'm going to mention it to my dealer in due course. It doesn't seem right in a £25K car.
JonnyGTi
Mine looks exactly the same too RR, no protective cover....
mainy
Right, I've just nipped downstairs to the garage and popped the bonnet. Mine definately has a rubber cover on it, almost like a mini gearstick gaiter. I've left my camera at work otherwise I would have posted a pic
petsy
mine is as depicted by Red...
RedRobin
Thanks for looking, Mainy - Hence proving there should be one.
mainy
TBH Red I think it must be an error in the factory and not just a piece that has fallen off as you'd have to cut the cover off or remove the wires from the plug before taking the cover off which would seem unlikely
TwoSheds
Yes it is an obvious ommission so to speak so I wonder if they just run out of supplies for a spell but just carried on with production. I assume current cars being delivered now have the plastic sheath fitted ?? If not it maybe part of the general minor cost saving changes the factory must introduce all the time.
