He will start treatment on Thursday 18th, this consists of anti-body treatment and chemotherapy once every three weeks for four sessions, if this treatment is received well he may not have to go through with the bone marrow transplant. This should make the cancer dormant for up to five years, then another course of treatment will have to be carried out, and so on and so on. Hopefully after the five years is up they may have found a better treatment/cure. So fingers crossed. 169144-ok.gif

Update.

Well, he has had the final chemotherapy treatment this week and so far things are looking good. It's just a case of waiting now before deciding if any other treatment is required.

His 50th birthday (big party included) is coming up soon and he has recently moved house so he has plenty of things keeping him busy at the moment. 169144-ok.gif

Some hopefull news Daz. Hope all continues in the same direction. Is the bone marrow transplant going to be needed?

We just don't know at the moment, the signs so far are that he has responded well to the anti-body and chemo treatments.

Thanks for asking Rusty and Jamesb. 169144-ok.gif

Its been a while since I updated, so here goes. He has responded so well to the first four chemotherapy sessions, that they are giving him another four, the last of these should be in mid June. This final chemo could be a very high dosage, if so this will kill off his stem cells (they are to remove samples before hand) this will then be when the bone marrow treatment will need to take place. The specialists are not giving us any idea as to the full treatment/timescales he is to go through, it seems to be changing all the time. Any way things are looking good. Thanks for all your replies, it really helps. 169144-ok.gif

Great stuff, Daz, it's always brilliant when you hear that your nearest and dearest have actually responded to chemotherapy.

All the best to all of you for the next stage of treatment, fingers are crossed in the B household.

Don't worry about the specialists being cagey - I'm sure they aren't keeping anything from you, it's just that these things are very hard to be accurate about. The fact that they are continually changing timescales shows that they are continually thinking about your brother's case. 169144-ok.gif

Daz, good to read the update and that things are looking positive for him, I really hope that things continue on the upwards route.... grin.gif

I know he doesn't know us, but let your brother know we're all thinking of him and wishing him well for a full and fast recovery. 169144-ok.gif

Keep us posted.
