Jack_is_Back
So what's next Rob? Did I read your looking for something cheaper? There's still plenty of fun cars out there which are great value for money. All the best.

Simonl
Both those Mk2's look like they've had hard lives. After I watched my mates bank account shrinking rapidly after he bought a dodgy Corrado, I would never touch a car like that.

Snoopy
I would plump for a good standard Mk2 8V or 16V rather than pay that much for a modified one thats prob had a hard life. Thats 16v you linked too got my attension as it says it has a seat engine and my 2.0 16V got wrote off in 2002 with a very low milage around 15K so got me wondering. Tarmac_Terrorist
Looks an amazing example. I think if your in the market for a 25 year old car in perfect condition, that would be a great buy. Still a lot of car for your money. ...or I suppose you could always have a brand new Daewoo for that money
TonyD
[ QUOTE ] ...or I suppose you could always have a brand new Daewoo for that money [/ QUOTE ] That's a disgraceful suggestion! As punishment you must sit in the corner and write 100 lines: "I must not compare a Daewoo to a 25 year old classic MK1 GTI" LOL

Snoopy
Damb must be members only heres a copy paste. [ QUOTE ] Golf GTI 8v – J873 VAW – 5-door – Pearl Grey – 131,073 miles. The Pearl Grey 5 door started life on 07-11-1991 and was sold to Hertz Leasing as a company car. The car changed hands on 30-12-1994 when Mr Brian O purchased the car and put a private plate on it (350 BNR). The 3rd owner was Mr Kevin W, the 4th a Ms Lucy S who wanted a mk4 Golf; she sold the car to Mr Darren M in 2003. I purchased the car through Club GTI Derby from Darren. The car is in great condition with a good extensive service history no expense spared and a lever arch file full of receipts, nine previous MOT certificates, tax discs, and even includes some magazine cut outs the car has appeared in (Performance VW, the car appeared in a Rolling Road Club Culture report where the car won first prize for best BHP figure in the Standard group, making 111.2 BHP on the rolling road (graph in service folder), also the car appeared twice in VWM magazine in the Your Shout section, and a photo in VWM Any Questions.) The Pre-Delivery Inspection report is also included. The car sports the original BBS RA alloys in very good condition, Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres all round with plenty of thread left in them. The paint work is near mint, receiving a partial re-spray in 2003. Recent replacements include a new rocker cover and sunroof seal. The car has been regularly cleaned and polished using Maguire’s and Autoglym products, including a full clay bar clean in August 2006. The interior is like new, featuring the rainbow fabric with no rips, tears or stains. The car has front electric windows, slide sunroof and power-steering, with everything on the car fully functional. Sony CD player, and front Infinity speakers in stock location. The car has had very few subtle mods, and could easily be returned to original: - Car 2 Immobiliser - Cat 1 Cobra Alarm - Full Jetex S/S Exhaust system - Golf mk4 rear disc brake upgrade - Eibach Springs (-30mm) - K&R cotton panel air filter - Rear strut brace - Storm single wiper conversion - German plates for show only, but included in sale. GB plates come on the car. The car is mechanically sound, everything working perfectly, flying through its last MOT at the end of June 2006 with needing nothing doing to it. Both rear wheel bearings, and front offside CV boot have been replaced on 29th August 2006. Oil changes have been undertaken every 3,000 miles using synta Gold oil. The car has been run on Shell Optimax/V-Power petrol. Everything needed doing has been done. Current tax till 31st Jan 07.
