The curent batch of common rail diesel engines are proving a very good alternative to their petrol brethren.

New diesels are 'cleaner' and this brings incentives from the UK goverment.

Performance wise they are quire different, but the torque is pound for pound far superior than that of a petrol.

The other criteria is fuel economy, the diesel far outreaches your average petrolhead...

What are you looking for - diesel wise, don't go near a Ford, go for VAG every time, they are he best !

Could this be moderated to the correct forum .. please beerchug.gif

Hello Radoslaw, if you have a large budget I would recommend the new BMW 330 cd (or the four door depending on what you require) the_finger.gif The average consumption figures for this motor are 41.5 mpg (TopGear). Obviously the bigger the engine the more consumption.

The best engine for you would be some kind of TDI. For example 1.9 or 2.5l. cool.gif

It depends how much money you have for the car.

Please notice that diesels are more expensive. suicide.gif

Thank you.

Peugeot do a good diesel engine. The HDI can do up to about 65 to the gallon. They can be tuned as well if you are looking for better performance.
