P_G
Must admit I am leaning toward Falkens or Vredestein Ultracs for the next set. PS2's seem to be good but v.pricey, am still being quoted £200 each on 245/35 R19 91Y whereas F1's are £135 and Falkens and Vredesteins are even cheaper. TDiAvant
P_G were did you get the pricing for the PS2's? I'm thinking about 19" wheels and £200 per corner is a very good price.
P_G
Barry's Tyres, Gateshead Still v.pricey compared to most of the other brands. BTW, have you got your car back yet?
rottenbend
[ QUOTE ] Certainly I'd probably not bother with GSD3's on my S4 again. Yes the grip in the wet is (marginally) better than the Conti's, but the wear rate on the front was very poor - through to the inside edge cords in 9k miles. The replacement Conti's on the front are a great deal better than the original OE ones were and I'll probably put another pair on the rear when they need doing in the next few 1000 miles. Certainly had good experiences of both PS2's and P Zero Rosso's on Porsche's though. [/ QUOTE ] I've not had as bad an experience with Contis as others seem to have had. The grip in the wet is good and they don't wear too badly. Noisy though I find...

I am very impressed with them overall - IMO their grip in the wet is significantly better than the Contis I had on my B6 A4 quattro.

[/ QUOTE ] All I can say is watch them carefully - and it wasn't poor alingment as I had this done just after the full set of GSD3's went on the car. The inner edge wear seemed to happen very quickly over about a 2-3K miles period - there was no discernable effect of grip or feel, and I never noticed it when washing the car (so didn't look often then!) but when Audi put it up on the ramps it was plain to see and quite a shock. The previous Conti's had done the same BTW, just took a lot longer to go. I don't know if Conti's have changed in some way recently but the ones on the front now are very quiet and have very good grip.
chasdrury
The lack of wear on my GSD3's is astounding! I demolished the Pirellis in about 10k and the PS2's about 14k. These GSD3's are still going strong at 18k, loads left on them... I am very surprised because my tyres don't get an easy life!! Chaz
Fergy
Ive just changed from PZero Rossos to a new set of FAlkens 452s and I am very impressed. The grip is far superior in wet and dry to the Rossos and approx £45 per corner cheaper. Hopefully they will last longer - only 8k miles from the Rossos on the fronts

robpink
double the BHP maybe but S4 has quattro instead of front wheel drive on the 1.8T, nearly 200 bhp through fronts only is bound to lead to rapid wear
Xedos
Christ, still got 4mm left on our PZero Rossos and done 23000 miles on a 2TFSI quattro.

eolair
Dunlop SportMaxx, on an 03 A6 1.9tdi, from OEM primacy. imho they're quieter and better in the wet. Good price too. Can't speak for wear, as they;re only 3m old.

chiller
I've just got some F1's and they seem to be very grippy,if you're anywhere near Wolverhampton Hi-Q are doing them and any other tyre with 20% off with a voucher off their website. My F1's were 96 quid a corner all in. gizze
The F1's are very grippy, they hold on far longer than a PS2 does, the difference though is the PS2 you can feel when it is going, where as the F1 holds out longer and then just goes, so not as progressive. Obviously this is not as noticable in Audis due to their tendancy to understeer, but get them on an M3 or something with lots of oversteer and it isvery obvious. I would think for 90% of drivers 90% of the time the F1 would be a safer tyre.
PetrolDave
www.blackcircles.com don't seem to list any Goodyear tyres - what's with this? In my size (255/35 R 19 Y extra load) all they offer me are Toyo T1-R, PZero Rosso, PS2 and Toyo T1-S. I'm in southern Hampshire and have used both Micheldever Tyres and Denmead Tyres and been happy with prices and service from both of them. Any other suggestions?
