Hi Vito,

I have just bought a MK2, I would advise getting a MK2 as opposed to the MK1, overall a more completed car ECLIPSe.gif (better handling/looks/more powerful engine/better interior/toys etc etc)

Have a look here for all info: v6clio.net

Also if you are after a yellow one then you'd better be a patient man as there were only 18 made in Liquid yellow and 8 made in Acid yellow...

See here for sales data etc. http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/heritage/cliov6/

Oh and here for my mini review/picts etc web page

I absolutely love it and would whole heartedly recommend one to anyone! (so much more fun than my old R32)

Thanks All

Picking the car up tomorrow if all checks out cant wait.

Oatz and anyone else that can help I have a few questions.

1. Exhaust have you looked at this what would you go for if you were to change I have seen the quicksilver one looks great.

2. Tyres I have been told to go for the toyos what do you think?

3. Pads do you leave then standard or change?

4. The air filter I have been told the ITT one is the one to have ?

5. Also like on the Ferrari and Lambo I am looking into putting a clear cover over the engin has anyone done this with the clio V6 or do you know anyone that can do it . 169144-ok.gif

Thanks

Vito

1) I'm currently looking into this as we speak. It seems best to go for the full system including headers unless you just want a better sounding exhaust without any performance gains. The Vee has 4 cats and the original system is very restrictive. If you join v6clio.net you will soon learn/hear of a company called SG Motorsport. Scott who owns the company is also an avid Vee fan and after a chat with him the other day he is currently developing a system which utilises 2 of the 4 original cats (therefore no emissions lights and will pass an MOT). Should be ready in the next few months and I am currently first in line for one, if interested maybe I could organise a group buy....?

Other popular makes are Janspeed, K-tec, and QS. QS also make an OMG version which as far as I'm led to believe is mega loud.

Prices for exhausts are not cheap and I believe start from £500 (backbox only) to around £1500 for a full set-up.

2) I have kept with the original PS2's as these were developed exclusively for the Vee and it just so happened that the previous owner whacked on a brand new set 2000 miles ago, saving me circa. £850 (which the dealer didn't know about... nice!). One thing though, make sure the alignment is correct as Vee's are extremely sensitive to any changes/incorrect specs.

I have just had an issue with mine (drastically wearing the front inner edges) but this was mainly due to stealer not doing a full geo. check (only front toe - f'ing idiots) as originally agreed.... well it ended up costing them more in the long run after two new front tyres and a proper 4 wheel alignment (toe and camber) in the end (just picked the car back up today).

3) As standard, Vee's have excellent brakes and do not need upgrading. Some people upgrade the pads as they are cheaper than Renault originals I think most have success with red stuff

4) Changing the air filter makes bugger all difference to performance and is for audible reasons only (as Scott informs me).

5) There has been talk of this and a few have looked into it on v6clio but as far as I'm aware no one has done it yet (love the idea of having one though)

And one last thing do not take it to a main dealer for servicing as they know bugger all about them plus they are a complete rip off and by not having a Renault stamp in the book it will not affect residuals.

Due to being such an enthusiasts car and unlike the norm potential buyers actually prefer seeing a reputable specialist stamp in the book as opposed to a Renault one which is a refreshing change and how it should be! (ignorant people only insist on a full manufactures service history! - drags himself away from speakers corner)

It is currently a sellers market and prices have plateued/are rising for decent examples. I was extremely lucky to find mine within a month of deciding I only wanted a one owner, low mileage MK2 in silver (looked at one other) and also managed to get hold of the previous owner (a Renault F1 engineer)

Good luck if you do end up buying you’ll never look back, I guarantee!!

Is it this one by any chance?? Veeeeee!!!

If you look around the Acid Yellow looks ace on the V6 ( I prefer the look to the Liquid yellow) - I think is fab 169144-ok.gif But as said above, will take a bit of looking to find one of the few made in those colours. Glad you are keen on a colour - the Silver and black just dont seem to do the car justice (NOI - Oatz), I think its such a car that needs to be shown off 169144-ok.gif

we had one return after a clutch due to a problem with the new one juddering but as it was a freebie repair the customer was happy enough wink.gif

Thank you all for the help .

Well I picked up my 03 Mars red MK2 on friday. Great car only 12500 miles .And guess what the coil went on Sat great into the dealer on Monday and a bill of £155 tried to fight my corner with customer service but they were not intrested out of warr. I said yes but by only a few months and its only done 12k but no joy .

Woppum GOD you must check every form hahahah yellow not for me good on the lambo got busted twice in one weekend last month driving that anyway not had any chance to blast my clio but will let you all know next week.

With ref to servicing I have been told the same some dealers dont know much about them but this was only a coil and I have been told very easy to do

1.I have talked with Scott too very nice guy not sure I would be up for the full system as ££££ but defo intrested and I have been told the Q silver is too noisey. My Dad had a Ferrari 360 CS is it as loud as this because I loved it

2.Not sure what I will do on the tyre side Scott says the toyos are good because if the back goes it slides but with the ps2s they snap away will look into it more at the time

3.Same will go with what everyone thinks is best .

4.Yes Scott told me he had one made for him ITT only £54 half the price of the dealer and better defo getting one.

5. Would really love the cover but have had on luck with the people I have asked .

I agree about the servicing but problem for me is I am in Edinburgh I would like to take it to SG Motor sport but far away for me anyway I took my CSL to London so could do the same with the V6 .

And yes that was the car

Talk soon

  • 1 year later...

Couple of points. IMO the Quicksilver exhaust is too noisy and doesn't really make the car go any quicker (the pops and bangs on trailing throttle are good fun tho) and the Renault pads were mental money when I last checked. I went for Green or Redstuff, one of the two.

Black Vees look the nuts too IMO :) But then again, they all get envious looks out in the real world.

Renault discs and pads are disgusting money, pads around £250-300 iirc and discs cheapest are £350 a pair! Pattern parts do not fit either!

Just fitted two piece rotor and bell drilled and slotted with red stuff
