NicNic
I have just sheered off one of the 3 rocker cover fastners on my 1.9TDI MK3 Golf (far left fastner). Whats peoples views on being able to drive my car to a garage or sould i not be running the engine with above damage and have it towed etc?!?!? Mook
Welcome to Tyresmoke Are you talking about the plastic cover over the rocker cover, or the actual rocker cover. IIRC, there's more than three nuts securing the rocker cover onto the head?
NicNic
There are 3 threds that attach to the engine block holding the rocker cover in place. I just replaced the gasket so the rocker cover was removed, cleaned and replaced. Tightened one a little too much though. Thanks
Mook
You'll be fine to drive it for a short distance, but you'll probably get oil seeping from the cover. The existing bolt will need to be removed and the thread in the cylinder head re-tapped with an oversize bolt. Pain in the a*se to do, but that's about your only option.
