felixthecat1
Hi, does anybody out there know of a company that can supply an aftermarket sports exaust for my passat 1.8T 2001 model. I have fitted a DV from Forge and a K&N air filter, probably the best £35.00 I have ever spent. But I now feel the need to help the breathing along at the other end and there's nothing out there. shao_khan
I would be very carefull with fitting an induction kit (unless i have missunderstoof and you have fitted a replacement panel). On the open road and free flowing traffic you will get a good improvement, but in warm traffic, say sat at traffic lights in the summer you could have a real loss in power if you are not carefull (in fact AMD a while back estimated that I could lose almost 15bhp with an induction kit fitted in the wrong traffic scenario and perhaps gain that much in the right conditions) - it is all about keeping cool dence air coming into the engine and warm air can directly result in a loss. As for exhaust - Projekt Zwo make replacement exhaust for the Passat (along with chip) - contact RSD (www.raodandsport.co.uk) for more information (they also deal with Oettinger and Caracterre). I am sure Miltek must produce something - AMD would be able to advise (www.amd-technik.co.uk). Otherwise you could try someone like japspeed in Southampton who will build you a custom exhaust or someone like powerflow.
RS4_Barry
on the 1,8t induction kits can wreck your MAF as the light oil that the cotton filters are coated in is drawn through and can leave a film over the sensor which in turn can actually loose you shedloads of power and feck things up. shao_khan
Yeah good point - I forgot to mention - a dyno on my TT with and without an induction kit fitted showed a decrease of about 17bhp with an induction kit fitted. I know similar results were found for the MKiv golfs with 1.8T also. And as Barry said - you dont really want to fek up the MAF as that could really hamper performance. felixthecat1
Hiya, sorry about the delay in replying, been busy! The K&N is a must. I wouldn't bother with an induction kit as I haven't found anyone that says it's worth it. A replacement however will perhaps not give you any more noticeable hp but it will improve throttle response dramatically. Good driving to you. cristian102
Hi does anybody Know where I can find a cold air intake for my Passat 1.8 turbo
shao_khan
Hi mate, welcoem to Tyresmoke. For a Cold air intake, quite often the most effective way to do it is to get someone to make you one. Do you have anyone neary by that fabricates Stainless steel exhausts, they may be able to custom make you a CAI.
cristian102
Thats genius, your absolute right. I've been searching for some time now, I might alwell just go to a cutom exhaust shop or something. Thanks.
shao_khan
No problems. I have seen a custom one done and they do look very nice. The thing is you can then have it routed in the best way to suit your plans for the future and for best intake of air. Let us know how it goes.
