rkidscd001
Hi folks! I've got a Polo GTi 125 ps (y reg) and I'm bored of it already, whats the best mods to get a bit more power out of it?? I fancy getting it up to about 150 / 160 ps if poss. I dont want a boy racer exhaust on it so I was thinking of an induction kit and ecu remap, anyone done this? What gain in power did you get and how much am I looking at? Finally, where can I get an ecu remap carried out? Thanks!!
shao_khan
Hiya, the problem with the normally aspirate engine is that remaps will not give you a huge increase in power. I would estimate that with a good induction kit, remap and exhaust you might see upto 15bhp, but I think that would be about it. If you want more power than you would need to consider turbo charging the car, engine transplant or taking it to one of the specialist tuners who should be able to prep to group to group N spec - with i guess anthing from 150 - 200 bhp, this would involve new cams, management system, manifold, etc, etc.
Si_GTi
As above! You can get up to 15hp extra with a good filter. exhaust and remap but then after that you're looking at throwing a lot of money at it to get anything like 160bhp! Mouse
Manifold is worth about 5 bhp BMC Air Filter +/- 3 bhp Remap 5-12 bhp Cams 10-15 bhp? There is a Lupo GTI (same engine) with throttle bodies pushing out almost 170 bhp, taking the 0-60 from 8 to 6.5 seconds. So for the Polo, 170 bhp would probably see you just under 7 seconds to 60. Pretty good for a heavy little supermini with a N/A 1.6!
