andysimpson Posted July 24, 2007 Report Share Posted July 24, 2007 Hello all, I am trying to change the ignition switch on my Polo gti 2000 but i am having great difficuilty getting the steering wheel off as i cannot remove the air bag. there are 2 holes underneath but there are no bolts inside just springs??? can anyone help??? Gezza88 Posted November 29, 2009 Report Share Posted November 29, 2009 Hi I have just replaced Ignition barrel lock on my Polo. Not sure if the steering wheel is the same but here is what I did. Underneath the wheel there are two "holes". These are for allen keys - undo these 2 anld lift off centre of steering wheel - be careful there is flat strap wire which has a connector to the airgbag. Once you get this off you can remove wiper and indicator assemblies. Then you need a 22 or 24mm socket to remove the steering wheel. Hope this helps.
