A8_Tony
Hi all, Well the time has come (and gone I might add) for the cambelt to be replaced again. Was wondering if anyone's done it themselves, and if they have if there's anything to watch out for? I will be doing the water pump at the same time, and possibly the thermostat too
Duffy3074
No but I'm of a mind to do so. The procedure is avialable and so are the bits, the rest of it's just spannering. I've done plemty of cambelts on inline 4's the S8 is just the same principles but with more belt! Good luck!

PaulW
I've done a bunch of 32v cars....not that hard, just follow the procedure closely on audipages, take the front end off, and TAKE YOUR TIME! I would suggest doing it over two days with the second day fitting it. End the first day with everything removed and spend some time cleaning everything up. Then sit back overnight so you have a clear head. And don't do it without the special tools!
NickGUK
Timing belts are basically all the same principle, its just the more cylinders you have, the more rollers, cams etc + a longer belt. As Paul W says, just take your time, the "biggest" issue with any timing belt job, what ever the car, is just access, once you have that then its simple nuts and bolts and common sense.
