Dave
Too much right foot? Could be a faulty sensor
Scotty
It's much more likely that the cable has rubbed through and it's earthing on the caliper. I had this with some non-OEM pads. A visual inspection with the wheel off may identify it. If that's the case then sometimes you can reroute it....just in case it was put in along the wrong route. Alternatively the connectors may have worked lose although I wouldn't expect this to happen as it's very secure.
paul_tdi
Sometimes the cable can even get cut, it did on mine and then when it touches anything metal it will create the required earth.
Waylander
Thanks I will ring SKF tomorrow morning and try to get it looked at then. No doubt it'll cost me an arm and a leg just for the look-see!
Waylander
gggrr as I feared [when I rang today]: no record of changing your brake pads.. will have to hunt around for the work-done sheets now!
Waylander
just to [sort of] put this thread to bed: had rear pads replaced previously. DIS only comes on for front pads. Apparently need both pads and disks changed. Cost [special discount if you do it now sir] from SKF: £290 Cost from Indept Garage across road £211 Cost from a former Audi Engineer who has his own garage [only just found out about this] £170... Scotty
Oops I think we all made the assumption you was suggesting your fronts had been changed. On the car you have 8 pads (2 per wheel). The wear sensor is only on one pad on each of the front pair.
Waylander
tbh I assumed I had too!
