This looks interesting!!!
This is the Gumpert Apollo Speed, spied undergoing final testing at the Nurburgring this week. The Gumpert Apollo Speed was launched as a concept car at this year's Geneva motor show, and the version testing here is a prototype. The car features a reduced ride height and revised aerodynamics over the Gumpert Apollo Sport that is currently on sale, and is powered by an Audi-derived 4.2-litre twin-turbo V8 available with 591bhp, 690bhp or 790bhp. The 690bhp version is capable of 0-62mph in 3.0sec Detailed changes to the Sport include a new induction system delivers fresh air to the engine, and revised wheel arches, rear end and an adjustable spoiler to direct the air over the body. The prototype pictured here has also been tweaked from the concept car shown in Geneva - it is sporting a different rear wing and a black air intake can be seen above the roof. It is known this is a test prototype rather than a final version of the Speed because of some of the similarities to the Sport. These include the rear light. Although the standard-fit competition-style removable steering wheel and four-point harness suggest the car is more suited to track use, Gumpert will be offering it with the option of leather or Alcantara trim, air-con and a DVD entertainment system. Gumpert is run by Roland Gumpert, former manager of the Audi Sports department. He led the team to 25 World Rally Championship wins and four World Rally Championship titles. Prices for the Gumpert Apollo Sport start around £260,000, suggesting the Speed will cost more than £300,000.
