Default Suspension for A4 - any Bilstein/Koni experience?

Fed up of my A4 cab wallowing and jittering round corners, and rocking over bumps (despite being sports setup). Audi UK don't seem to grasp the point and keep going on about how a sports suspension may be "just a bit firm on UK roads" when my actual complaint is that it's *too soft*/underdamped.

Does anyone have any experience of modified suspension that would help ? Or even just tyres - I'm on Michelin Premacy 17" at the moment, felt a big improvement over Continentals when I changed them but now feel equally jittery. Alignment and balance all checked twice in 7,000 miles.

All tips appreciated.

Default Re: Suspension for A4 - any Bilstein/Koni experience?

I have koni's all round on a series 1 A4, and would say its a fantastic upgrade. The car seems to wallow around corners soo much less, and on anything other than really bad road surfaces its not noticibly more uncomfortable than std kit. On Very bad roads, i find myself driving all over the shop to avoid potholes, etc.

Your other idea of changing your wheels also helps, i have a set of winter 15" wheels, and summer 18" wheels, and again, changing from 15 to 18 gives a noticable change in the handling of the car.

Personally, id go with changing the suspension first, its fairly reasonably priced (my shocks and springs came in at 400+ fitting).

The major downside to going larger on wheels (other than cost obviously) is an increased amount of road noise, and the car tends to tramline more.
