Default Bilstein or Koni FSD shock absorbers

I have a 2004 Audi A6, which I am about to upgrade the standard shock absorbers for either Bilstein B6 (recommended by Bilstein help line)or the Koni FSD (read a good review in Audi driver).

My priority is to improve handling and road holding and not to sacrifice comfort; improve comfort would be a bonus. Both of these products can be used with the standard springs, which I will retain.

Can anyone recommend either product and give a brief account of any experience they may have had.

I have been quoted £460 fitted for the Bilstein and £540 fitted for the Konis.

Thanks

search the gti forum for Red Robin's write up on his fsd and eibach spring combo...

RR rates them highly

For road use I would recommend KoniFSD but for track I'd be looking at the Bilstein coil-overs and modding the whole suspension.

As you write: "My priority is to improve handling and road holding and not to sacrifice comfort; improve comfort would be a bonus", then the FSD system would be difficult to beat in my opinion.

How KoniFSD's Work

To get the most out of a suspension mod I'd also be considering Anti-roll bars and springs, but it's extra money and a slippery slope .

Hope this helps

Thank you for the responses, the Koni review certainly gives confidence that the system does work.

Has anyone had experience of the Bilstein B6, which I would use with the standard springs. Any improvement in handling would be welcome over standard, as it was never the best.

Steven
the standard Audi s-line set up is a compromise of firmness at the expense to comfort. The Koni FSD web site and the reviews on this forum are evidence that you can have both firmness and comfort.

I intend to fit the FSD's next week, best price so far is £540 fitted.

I presume that there is an ARB upgrade from the 2004 RS6 too that you could look at whist fitting shocks.

Koni make some superb break pads too IIRC.
