Default Pela 6000 Oil Extractor

Got one of these delivered yesterday for £35 inc P&P; my A4 is on fixed 10,000 mile intervals and I've had enough of having to take the plastic undertray off and get covered in oil and dirt, not to mention freezing cold, when doing oil changes.

I used the extractor as soon as I got home from a long journey and it sucked out just over 4 litres of oil through the dipstick tube. Given the capacity on my car inc. filter is about 4.2 litres, this was quite impressive.

Well worth the money. I know Smart cars do not have sump drain bolts so this is the only method to use.

www.seamarknunn.com seemed to be the cheapest. Came next day.

I still can't get over how quickly the job was done - the whole service took less time than the oil change normally does.

so you can just plug this in, pump a bit, all the old oil comes out, and then you refill with new oil? is there any residual solids left at the bottom?

that's great - feck paying to have go to garage or get all messy under the car.

Sump design may affect if there is any oil left in the bottom but it seems it got out pretty much everything in my A4. I have read that some people have then taken out the drain plug and found virtually no oil left in the sump.

You just need to get the oil nice and warm as you would if you were doing a normal drain. It helps that on mine the oil filter is in the engine bay and not underneath.

A quick update - I used the Pela at 148,000 miles on my A4. Tomorrow I will be using it again at 158,000 to do the oil/filter change. So the engine hasn't suddenly expired due to not draining the oil in the traditional way.

If I can be arsed I might pop the tray off and see if anything comes out of the sump drain hole after using the extractor.
