This'll probably only affect you if you're a higher rate tax payer, self employed or have to file a tax return for other reasons, like being a company shareholder, or a director etc, but what a TOP piece of software.
You can file up to six personal returns for your £25 license (i.e. people in your household - there's other licenses available). You have to renew it every year, and, for the money, given the amount the govt changes every nook and cranny of the tax laws each year that their developers will have to include, it's worth twice that for the time it saves. I did Mrs Mook's tax return manually using the HMRC site last weekend, straightforward enough, but you've got to have enough knowledge of every area as you go. I've just done mine using TaxCalc - UK taxation software - TaxCalc - it walks you through every step and you can check every part of the process, go back, skip what you don't want and then, once you've finished, run a test submission, then file the real thing. It even tells you what your Tax and NIC liability is as you go. Thanks Mac for the recommendation (separate thread from a while ago) - £25 well spent ![]() Now, just to send HMRC my payment for 2008-09

Been using it for years and yes it's great, also gets better each year, just import last years file and all you have to do is add in your figures for the new year, simple click a button and it's even uploaded to HMRC with a nice record of your submission. Best £25 I have ever spent on software (value for money wise)
