Pentagon Supaglass Review
The first thing that strikes you when you enter the Pentagon HQ (Acton) is how immaculate and professional the place appears. Whilst this is to be expected in a company dealing with glass products, it’s still a welcome surprise and puts you at ease about the quality of workmanship. We were greeted by Craig Seckerson, Business Development Manager at Pentagon ( dressed for the occasion ). Once he got over how clean all our cars were (!) he proceeded to show us the different levels of tint that are currently available for the windows, although it should be noted that since this demo new Govt legislation has, in it’s infinite wisdom, decreed that no tints can be applied forward of the B pillar on a vehicle (basically the front windows). Craig then showed us a film of Supaglass, the special film developed by Pentagon that can be applied to the inside of windows, giving significant security and safety benefits. I think we were all quite surprised at just how thin the Supaglass film is (less than 1mm) but the effectiveness has to be seen to be believed… We were then taken into the main workshop area where the Pentagon ‘mule’ golf was sitting, ready to take a ‘hammering’ from Craig! Without any hesitation (he’s obviously done this before!) he smacked the claw hammer down on the front window (fitted with tinted Supaglass) whereupon there was merely a dull thud. The glass had an obvious impact mark on it and was slightly cracked, but the film held everything in place. A normal car window would have completely shattered, filling the car with shreds of glass and giving an opportunist theft easy access inside. Craig proceeded to give the window several more serious hammerings, but the Supaglass did what it claimed - held the glass in place and kept a would be thief out. Even when Craig kicked hard at the car the window merely absorbed the energy and rebounded his attack. Seriously impressive stuff! Craig told us that numerous Police, Fire Brigade and Politicians’ vehicles have had Supaglass applied due to the benefits it brings….. Finally, we were shown how, in an emergency it’s possible to push the whole film out from the inside of the car, in one piece! It should be noted that the emergency services are aware of Supaglass and are able to ‘deal’ with it accordingly, should the need arise. Overall all who attended from TSN were extremely impressed and as I already had the Supaglass fitted, the demo confirmed to me that it was money very well spent. Not only will it help prevent opportunist theft from a car, but also in the event of an accident, it will prevent dangerous shreds of glass from potentially injuring anyone inside the car. As someone who has had the film applied, I have to say that I am extremely pleased with the results. There were a couple of very minor blemishes on one of my windows and without any hesitation the window was completely redone, at my convenience. The finish is fantastic and really does give that ‘factory fitted’ look. Pentagon have been nothing but professional and courteous and I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone. I will certainly be taking all future cars there for a ‘Supaglass’ application! Pentagon can apply either clear or tinted supaglass, or just tints if you prefer. If you are going to have the Supaglass film fitted then they will need your car overnight, to allow for the initial drying process. TSN and Pentagon have arranged a special 25% discount for TSN users, which can result in a significant saving, especially on larger cars! If you wish to book your car in or have any questions then you should call Craig on Tel: 020 8749 9749 and he will be able to advise re exact pricing for your car and the nearest franchise to use. New Legislation Concerning Window Vehicle Tints
What is Visible Light Transmission? % Visible Light Transmission (VLT) is the total percentage of light that penetrates through the window glass to your eyes. This may also be called the % Visibility. What is the Law? The law states that: 1) You need at least 75% visibility through the windscreen. 2) You need at least 70% visibility through the side windows forward of the b-pillar. 3) Any windows to the rear of the b-pillar can be as dark as you wish (including the rear screen), subject to door mirrors fitted on both sides to the minimum required legal specification. What are the penalties for lawbreakers? It is recommended policy for the police forces around the country to take the following action: If your window VLT is: between 50-69% - you will be told that your tints are below legal limits, and you may be asked to remove them. between 30-49% - you will be given a limited time to remove your offending tints. No further action is likely to be taken. less than 30% - you will certainly face an immediate prohibition order preventing you from driving your car any further until the offending tints are removed. This offence may also carry a fine, penalty points on your licence, and even prosecution in the most extreme cases. If the law states that I need at least 70% visibility for the front two side windows I can have a 30% light reducing tint film applied, right? Most vehicles have a degree of tint manufactured in the glass so normally, any tint film applied will reduce this to below legal limits. A clear security film can normally be applied. Why has the law changed? There are two reasons for this: Whereas Police Forces and even the Government have always been concerned about excessive tints, the fashion for applying light tints that were genuinely safe for road use has historically been largely tolerated. Unfortunately however, in the last two years more and more excessively tinted cars have appeared on UK roads which are not safe and so the Government was forced to take action The law previously was never clear and a lot of confusion has arisen in the past. A very strong argument has been presented that provided tints did not obscure the vision of the driver, that the regulations as they stood would make it difficult to prosecute. This has now been corrected by specifically including tint films under Section 32 of the regulations (Construction and Use).

Blimey, didn't realise it was that expensive. I would have guessed about £350

Guys and Girls,
Just to let you know that Craig is no longer with Pentagon, however he has confirmed that the franchises will still be honouring the TSN discount. If you have any problems then drop me a PM and I will do my best to help. JT

Hi,
Know this thread is oooooooooold, but anyone used them recently? My car hasn't the sun protection glass, so want to get it done, but dont want to have that shiite band round the glass where the glass gradient is that I had on the 996 rear windows. Cheers B.
