Okay, just Vag-Com'd the car after a 3 hour journey home, stuck in lots of traffic and it has given me these two faults:
17863 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 1 (G235): Implausible Signal - Intermittent 00526 - Brake Light Switch-F: Implausible Signal - Intermittent The AWD controller threw the brake-light switch code about 4 months ago, the dealer "replaced the switch", I cleared the code about 2 weeks ago and now it's back again. What do you guys think? Anything to worry about? I have cleared it again and if they're both back on Saturday morning I'm dropping into the stealers! EGT sensor is right next to the turbo, and wired to a box on the underside of the intake manifold.
Im told its a pig of a job to get to and about £180 in parts! Ive had the same code once, and never seen it since. EGT sensor G235 Brake switch (i have been led to believe) is a double switch that checks each others operation, ie two signals are expected, not just one. there may have been a delay with one operating? maybe it requires looking at again if its come back twice. keep an eye on both.

Okay, just ran "THE COM" again after a long journey home.
Didn't have the EGT DTC this time which is a good start, however the: 00526 - Brake Light Switch-F 27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent DTC was back within the AWD module! It apparently had this fixed a long time ago by the stealers, get the feeling their "fix" was to erase the fault and hope it didn't come back again!! Just wondering if anyone knows exactly where the switch is and what it does....? Paul Maybe....? When the dealers apparently changed it, it was under the brake pedal and the relay had fallen to pieces inside the casing... Cheers for all the help BTW, much appreciated! |

It will be somewhere on the brake pedal. I think its a double contacted switch, but never seen it.
The AWD monitors the action of the brakes, via that switch to disengage the haldex. you dont need 4x4 on braking. if what im led to believe is correct, there arte two switches and hey compare with each other. ie: switch one "my brakes are on" (or off) switch two should also say "my brakes are on" (or off) probably within set time scales as well. It would be worth for safety just checking that the brake lights are still working!
