connection problem

got a problem with my cheap interface using version 311 it will connect to all the controllers except the engine on my 99 tdi golf anyone got any ideas??

Some of the cheap leads will not connect to certain modules, but the engine is surprising. Do you get any errors?

No it just says no response from controller then asks if you want to retry. pain cos i only want to set the timing!

now tried it on two other vw golfs and it works and connects to the engine on both!! so it must be a problem with the car any ideas??
