I haven't driven one yet. In fact it's about the time that I start looking at buying the run out model Mk 5 Golf or Jetta.

I think the biggest area in need of improvement for me was the interior of the MK5 - I thought it was a complete step bakwards, felt cheap and did nothing for the prestige of the car. For me it was sufficient to stop me having a mk5 golf after having had a few mk4s.

The interior is fantatsic, the dash display is from the new passat cc, the gear lever has moved forward, climate control(if ordered/standard) is from cc and electric window switches etc in similar place to tiguan! If you havent seen it yet go to Autocar(other motoring magazines availalbe!)

I wouldn't have guessed you were a VW sales exec. if you hadn't said

Personally I'll reserve my judgement until I see the high end models in the flesh.

What I want to see is a 280bhp / AWD Scirocco

What because it sounds like there is some product knowledge - I'll agree that is a rarity, normally I have to tell them what I'd liek and they argue on if its available!!!!!

Have to say i am not sure on the front end, i really like the face of the MkV GTi,GT's.Will have to wait until i see one in the flesh but i was hoping vw would have wanted to carry on with a more distinctive face.
It may just make me choose Audi next time round but we shall have to wait and see.
Other than that welcome to tyresmoke..

We are all probably interested in knowing when they will hit the showrooms and mainly when the GTi will appear. Do you have any insider info ??

We are told launch will be January! But does that mean ordering opens and no cars? I would fully expect demo's to hit showrooms in Jan as there are not many Mk5 models available to factory order now!
I've got a funny feeling the GTI will be availalbe more or less straight away as alot of the pictures are of a GTI!
Whats really exciting me is the possiblity of the GTD in2010--204bhp from a tdi!
