Finally after a year Iv found out whats been causing all my misery from the long journeys I used to take and the frustration of having to flick my ignition key when flying down the motorway.
One of the turbo pipes (runs from the EGR valve to the intercooler. Left hand side of engine) has a big chunky metal collar on it with 2 pins either side only 1 of them had snapped and everytime the turbo was spinning up blew the pipe off and when i let it idle again sucked the pipe back in. isnt that a ****er £35 fix btw vw are on revision B of this pipe and they had it in stock which means it must be a fairly common fault. Just glad i didnt waste money on a maf sensor which i was quite happy to blame |

Good find!
I think the pipes are a fairly common issue. Hence many turbo bods get those fancy blue/red Samco silicon jobs.
