half of the speakers in golf not working

hi, im having some problems with door speaker in my mk 3 golf. none of the speakers on the left side of the car are working, maybe ive been playing my music too loud

Ive been told that it could either be dead speakers or just wiring problems. any ideas will be much appreciated?????

Sounds most likely to be a broken wire, probably at the back of the stereo. Is it an aftermarket head unit?
