I have a 56 plate Golf MkV GT TDi 4-Motion which has recently started to make a strange vibrating noise at certain speeds. It tends to happen most between 30-40 and I can feel it through the accelerator and a bit through the armrest. I suspect either the wheel bearings or the balancing (recently had the front offside wheel replaced due to the traditinoal alloy worming problem), but as it's only done 29k I'll be a bit gutted if it is.
Any ideas? Thanks Mark

I think for a wheel bearing - you can tell which side by the noise it makes when cornering.
They don't usually vibrate (IIRC) - just a loud, rough humming noise - which varies as you corner. Vibrations - might well be the wheel you replaced isn't balanced. Get it looked at. Unbalanced wheel is the cheapest option to start with.

I've got a strange banging coming from my nearside front wheel whenever I turn the steering wheel fully to the right hand side - only at slow speeds though (mostly when i'm manouevring). Can anyone help me - it's def not wheel balancing but it might be a bearing. |
