Default tdi 130 advise

just in the middle of buying a mk4 gt tdi 130 and was wondering what to do with the induction and the exhaust

i have had vauxhalls and citroens and they are pretty restrictive as far as induction is concerned so wondered what people do with the golf,

plus i want a nice cat-back that gives good gains, any common ones or particularly good ones

Don't bother too much with the exhaust. Unless you want it to just make more noise that is...

If you want to make it faster and still retain the stock look and feel, get a remap. If you really want to make it go faster then you can spend a load on a cold air intake, free flow air filter, free flow exhaust and then a custom remap. But in the big picture a remap will take you up to 170bhp* straight away for £300, whereas the exhaust, intake, air filter, and custom remap to suit will take you to about 190bhp* and will cost you up to £1500.

In either circumstance you'll want to put aside £500 for a new clutch as the stock one will slip as soon as (or not long after) you get it remapped.

*you can add or subtract 10bhp or so depending on your tuner and how reliable / driveable you want your car to be.

I presume it's a Golf (you didn't actually say) rather than a Bora, so I'll say probably plug and play. I don't know personally though, but if you have a look on UK Mkivs forums, loads of people over there will have done the conversion.
