i've only had my R32 for 4 weeks approx and already i've had the following done:
Serious fuel leak from top of tank/pump. I booked the car in for a ecu upgrade whilst the fuel leak was being fixed and during that weak the car developed a clunking noise which resulted in 2 x new front struts replaced due to movement. Also the warning light came on at times and they replaced a brake light sensor. Just to top things off i had someone from work behind me today and they said my brake lights were not working properly so its got to go in again, thats the 4th time since i bought the car. The car is a 2004, has only 18k miles on it and I had a full RAC inspection carried out before I bought it. Basically Im starting to think that VW's are a complete load of poo and I should have stuck to a 13 year old Ford which had more power and less problems. What other hidden gems am I likely to find with The R32 that you guys have experienced. |

Hi mate
did you buy the car privately or from a dealer?, the warranty shold stil lcover any problems overall Golfs are very good cars im on my second having owning a mark 2 H reg Golf Gti before this which ihad for 5 years and was 15 years old whether my R will be still be rocking in 15 years who knows, your car has only got 18k on the clock sounds like previous owner etc didnt look after it all maybe used it like a dog excuse the pun, but im not sure how the RAC inspection allowed for your problems to go undetected. Depending on the previous owners mileage and driving style and when they and it s service intervals et is an indication of just wear and tear my average mileage is about 6000 year as mines only for socialising. Your warranty should cover all this in the manual as the car is very new so you shouldnt have any problems afterwards! let us know |

Sorry to hear that you have had a few probs, they are usually extremly reliable cars, but watch out fot the coil packs as this is a common fault in VW's but you can't do anything about them until they go,apart from that there are a few niggles which some of the guys have had but nothing that can't be resolved.
Best of luck |

I did by it from a garage but not a main dealer. I guess i just got a bit unlucky but everything has and is being done under warrenty it just that i expected a bit more form a vw. I had a cosworth before and you can guarantee the previous owners and myself thrashed the poo out of it but I had very few problems with the car.
