  1. I'm waiting for my S3 to be delivered. I originally had an estimated date of the dealer of the 31st March, but I've just recived a letter today saying that production is completed and it is awaiting shipment. It just depends on how long it takes to get here from the factory, any ideas? We're also waiting for the wifes new lease (Nissan Qashqai), due end of March.
  2. Ah Ok thanks - I wasnt sure what was involved with the upgrade, thanks for clarifying it.
  3. I'm now trying to finalise my spec before I order my GTI next week . Just one question though - does anyone know what the difference is between the RCD 500 and the RCD 500 with Soundpack option. Apart from a few hundred £. I have opted for the RCD500 with Soundpack in my quote from Euroimports, however would like to hear anyones opinion on what its like. I've had a look at a couple of GTis in the local dealers but none of them had this specced. I had the Bose option on my S3 and really missed the sound quality when I bought my Leon Cupra R, hence me putting it on the quotation. Just dont know what you get extra for your money.
  4. [ QUOTE ] For the price it's a complete bargain If you are getting the soundpack and the armrest, then consider investing in the Ipod adaptor, which is located in the armrest [/ QUOTE ] Ah ok that makes sense now thanks [ QUOTE ] Remember that with Select you will have to do some of the paperwork yourself (simple if you are paper-track minded), but this is reflected in Select normally being the lowest price-wise - especially with more options (as you are doing) [/ QUOTE ] Really ?- The paperwork shouldnt be a problem, however it doesnt mention anything on the website though. Any idea on whats required from the buyer?
  5. Yeah I used the online cofig - not saying I'm buying from them though. I'm trying to decide on my spec then will phone / email around to get the best deal.
  6. Thanks for thefeedback guys. I was already sold on the Highline from reading previous postings at £45 its a no brainer really. Regarding the 3v5 doors, I think we've made the decision to go with 5 doors. Like its been said we could cope with 3 doors but why put the missus through 5 days of torture getting Little Miss R into the back, for me to have 2 days of looking at 3 doors on the weekend. Also never considered the doors on the 3 door needing to be opened up further, my be a problem on our drive. So 5 doors is the way forward. The sunroof I'm still not decided on. A bit more thinking about that and maybe a look at one in the dealers will make my mind up. Regarding the GTis being a quality item, if its anything like the one in my previous S3 then its going to be. From your posts I've done some digging around the net and it seems your not the only ones who dont rate the VW phone prep. So I'm with you on that one, no tick in that box. I'm still not clear on the RCD500 though. If I spec this - "Radio RCD 500 with 6CD & Sound Pack" do you have to spec the "6 CD Changer with Front Centre Arm Rest 2 Air Vents Rear & Cupholders" also, or can you just spec the stereo upgrade and this "Front Centre Armrest with Storage Compartment 2 Rear Air Vents & Cup Holders" As a dealer option its quite expensive but with some of the import sites its around half price so I'd probably spec it. I just dont see the point of speccing up the 6CD in the armrest as I'lll connect my ipod to it anyway. I've just found an online config - so up to now this is what I'm looking at:- Vehicle Description: Make Volkswagen Model 2.0T 200bhp 5dr Colour Steel Grey Metallic Interior Anthracite Interlagos Cloth Delivery 8-12 Weeks Warranty 2 Year Manufacturer -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Optional Extras 18 Inch Monza Alloy Wheel £ 311.60 Cruise Control £ 113.86 Front Centre Armrest with Storage Compartment 2 Rear Air Vents & Cup Holders £ 76.70 Metallic Paint £ 275.65 Multifunction Computer Highline £ 29.96 Radio RCD 500 with 6CD & Sound Pack £ 347.57 Xenon Headlights £ 616.58 Total Price of Options: £ 1,771.92 Total Cost of Vehicle £ 20,374.10 What do you think?
  7. Alright Guys, After much debate between what new car to buy, which I'm sure a few of you have been through the same dilema. Golf Gti / Audi A3 2.0T Q Sline or A4 same spec/ Skoda Octavia VRS Having owned an Audi S3 and currently driving a Seat Leon Cupra R, I was very tempted to go back to the Audi stable with the new A3/A4. Down to the dealership the wife and I went and after discussions with the Sales guy managed to get a test drive of a new A4 2.0TQ S Line. To be honest I wasnt impressed. 200bhp in a big heavy bus just wasnt doing it for me. I liked the looks and the interior was very nice (Alcantara & Leather). Then there was the price, way too ££. After having a nightmare actually finding a VW dealership locally who had a GTi in stock We finally managed to get a test drive. That was it SOLD. This was the car for us. To be honest after driving the A4 with what is the same engine / power, I wasnt expecting much, however the difference was night and day. The Golf was amazing, as most of you already know. Ok so decision now made on what type of car, now the dilema begins on what model and spec. Model Sold on the manual over DSG as I ike playing with the gearstick Cant decide on 3 or 5 door. 5 doors for the practicality, (we have a 9month daughter). I really prefer the 3 door model though. Any thoughts? Does anyone have a 3 door model and a young child, how do you find getting them in and out of the carseat? Should I stop being selfish and get the 5 door for the easier access? Colour Really like white, but Steel Grey is growing on me. If it was a 3 door it'd be white, 5 door would be steel grey. Again any thoughts? Options I'm pretty much sold on some of the options. Mind Made up on: 18" Monzas Xenons (Had them on the S3 and loved them) Interlagos Cloth (Liked the old school feeling and quality is top) Phone prep (want the standard look rather than aftermarket) Centre armrest Still thinking about:- Soundsystem - whats the standard system like. I have my ipod linked up to the stereo in the Leon. Therefore dont really want the 6Disc changer. Anyone comment on the standard 8 speaker system? Rather than opting for the 6 disc and therefore not getting the 10 speakers. Sunroof - dont have one in the Leon, but had one in the S3 and liked it - any thoughts? I'll have to make my mind up soon as I need to get one ordered so any thoughts are welcome
  8. Hopefully I can make the 18th, I'm on call that day but it's only an hour or so away from home. I may be able to talk a few fellow enthusiasts (that dont use the forums)into a run out also. Very busy at work at the moment so I'll keep an eye on this post incase anything changes.
  9. Talking of Green cars what do you reckon to this Porsche. The Jury is still out here. [image]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v687/r88per/GT2ViperGreen3.bmp[/image]
  10. Simon - you could try LeeS3's Here I know the the car, its really clean, and modded sensibly.
  11. How practicality and her indoors catches up with us all in the end eh Lodders. I've just sold the S3, due to not wanting to squeeze a baby, plus baby seat through the small space thats left when the seats are put forward. (The missus is due in 6 weeks ) I'm actually going to pick up a new Seat Leon Cupra R today, not to everyones taste but it ticks all the right boxes for me and the wife. If I was choosing between the list above I'd probably go for the cab, even if just for the summer fun. To be honest I did consider a BM, but the wife didnt fancy driving a rear wheel drive car in the bad weather we have up here. Think it was more of a confidence thing, rather than a potential problem, as she has never drove a rear drive car. I also considered various A4's 1.8T Quattro's, 2.5TD's, but in the end decided on the Leon. Good luck with the choice and wish the missus well.
  12. I've been up against a Clio in my S3 (chipped) both around the twisties,on a dry bit of tarmac and from a standing start, and can definately say that there was nothing in it. Maybe a little on the run up to about 100kph, but I was expecting a lot more of a gap. I even checked for boost leaks etc when I got home as I couldnt believe how quick that little thing was. As Lodders said, I had a face full of egg.
  13. Looks nice Lodders - I'm sure you had to really twist the missus arm to get her to give in. Roof down and wind in her hair. Lets just hope that you dont end up with the Polo eh!
  14. TBH - Argos sell some really good ones. They're elasticated around the bottom and fit the my S3 recaros perfectly. Ideal for stopping the dogs manky paws getting mud all over them, on the rare occasion I let him in the car.
  15. Yeah I like those Zender wheels too. They look really nice on the S3, IMO [image]http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/download.php?Number=326812[/image]
