Took delivery of my brand new BMW E61 520d M Sport Touring in Carbon Black (metallic) at the end of December 2008.
I've had the paint-seal finish applied by Inchcape - the dealer
Now noticed some swirl marks - must have been when I washed it the first few times. They weren't there from new. I now know about using a lambswool mitt and a grit guard, but to my cost I didn't use them at first.
My question is do I need to wait for the car to be 6 or more months old, thus allowing the paint to harden, before applying polish/wax? I know the car was a factory build in the first week of December 2008 so it hadn't been parked in a field for months before I took delivery.
I also plan to use the Meguiars Scratch X stuff to try to eliminate the swirls. Again should I wait until it's 6 months old before doing so?
Thanks
Steve
