  1. Thanks to rjgreen4 for your sugestion Only trouble is that I am a complete Ebay novice and have never sold anything on there. Selling a R32 as the first thing together with my dodgy English would make the situation a bit suspect for the buyer - or what Well I have put it in the classifieds here and reduced the price to £15700. If it is not sold end of next week I will take it to Spain.
  2. Many thanks for your great research Tony Mac I will try to sell it here for 10 days and otherwise bring it to Spain. I have found a R32 DSG for sale at 28000 Euros in Madrid (they have an additionally 12% registration tax). For the UK I have now priced it slightly cheaper than Germany as it is a very limited model. Maybe there is a British enthusiast out there regretting not to have a MkIV DSG I will try to put it up here as well as Pistonheads - does anyone have an idea of other places to advertise it? Is it worth putting at Autotrader and recieving a bunch of fake buyers?
  3. Many thanks for your comments I do not know the Spanish market but heard that cars in general tend to hold their value slightly better than in UK. Another thing going for it is that it seems I will not need to pay the extra 12% registration tax as I am emigrating. On the other hand it would be nice to do without the long driving trip down there and instead start on a fresh. Regarding service in the UK, I have been able to get all the DSG model specific software updates (7700) regarding "hesitation" done here as it is already on their CD-roms - though I had them working to find it. They also swiftly changed the dual clutch 6 months ago as a precautionairy measure (my two year warranty was running out) Do you guys know any good LHD car specialists?
  4. Hello fellow TSN’ers As I am going to move from England to Madrid (Spain), I was wondering if you guys could advise me which option would be the best regarding the sale of my beloved R32. In 2004 I bought a new LHD MkIV R32 DSG in Denmark and brought it over here immediately. I have been very impressed by the R32 and especially the DSG. The sad day has come where I need a diesel for the long motorway distances in Spain. This means that the R32 has to go and it leaves me a few options. Should I bring it to Spain as it is a LHD car - but how is the second hand market there for the R32? Another option would be to try and sell it in the UK as it is already registered here. To my knowledge there is only one other MkIV R32 DSG with UK license plates (TonyMac) out of a total of 600. Where should I try to sell a LHD car in the UK? Also, how much do you reckon it is worth? 2004 (53) and 38.000km - 3-door in Moonlight Blue Metallic with DSG and cruise control as options. Cheers for any feedback Adam

    Help!!

Oatz, how did it go? I have the same problem with my other car - but it is glue on fiberglass.... Any recommendations? Cheers
  6. [ QUOTE ] MK IV or MK V? [/ QUOTE ] Mine is a 2003 model year MkIV DSG that I have registered in England
  7. By the way - Tspar - strange picture you found of the car. It doesn't have the R32 pedals!! Is it a prototype?
  8. [ QUOTE ] FYI Mk IV DSG still changes up if you hit the red line [/ QUOTE ] Nope mine doesn't, it hits the rev limiter and stays there. That is why I have to be careful in 1st gear in manual mode and press the "+" button at 6000 rpm for it to change with the reaction time at 6500 rpm.
  9. To my knowledge the R32 was the first VAG car where DSG was introduced. It didn't arrive at the launch though, but came during 2003. Someone told me that the MkV DSG helps change gear when going towards the red line in "manual" mode, whereas the MkIV luckily still stays very manual - MkV owners tell me if I'm wrong! Nice to find out on Tyresmoke how many LHD R32 DSG's there were produced I still love mine with its broad abilities of being a cruiser as well as a hot hatch
  10. Oh yes indeed you can! I have imported my LHD MkIV R32 DSG to England and the adjustment of the lights to RHD was a simple job using VAG-COM in one of the menus. Sorry, I can't remember which menu but it took a VW technician 2 min. to sort out. Good luck and have a fun trip

Hi Per some UK car dealers get cars parallel imported directly from European dealers and therefore not involving the UK import company. These cars tend to be cheaper to buy but without the extra year of warranty. I know for a fact that some BMW dealers do this with the sought after M5. So in what way did your dealer explain about the R32 being "imported"? You are right that all official dealers are obliged to undertake warranty work, but in the real life some could still indicate "no" without saying the excact words. I have read many posts here about official R32 cars where dealers were reluctant to carry out i.e. 6463 ECU updates. In my experience, it has generally been a pleasant experience going to VW dealers and have warranty work carried out. I might have been lucky though. Cheers Adam

I know a little bit about R32 imports as I did it myself with a MkIV LHD R32 DSG (very rare). If you get a parallel imported car from Europe you will only get a two year warranty on the car and three years on the paint. I have seen that some members here have had prolems with certain dealers; but they have been extremely helpful towards me regarding warranty claims providing free courtesy car etc. Good luck with your choice Adam

Maybe there will be even newer opdates. My imported MkIV R32 DSG has been running on firmware 7000 since last summer but a few weeks ago I got a new 7831 update. It drives like a dream and I love it (I know the DSG run a different software so it is pure speculation)
  14. Hello Langers How did you get on with the problems of misfire/hesitation in the R32? *Spark plugs could have worked themselves loose if not tightened correctly *Coolant temp sensor should be changed for the improved green one *Have you looked at the knock sensor? The most significant improvement I can think of is a software opgrade if your hesitation does not show up on VAG-COM. For the manual R32 in Europe we have version 6463, where my MkIV DSG is on version 7831. It has recently been updated from 7000 and totally eliminated a very rare hesitation(800-4000rpm) that you seem to have. Good luck
