fatcat
Is there such a thing as a SLK350 AMG ? If so, what does it do above a normal SLK350 ?
Dave
Not a lot, but you can get an amg pack which can include alloys, body kit, internals and suspension.
cruiser647
SLK350 AMG...........AMG wheels and a few AMG bits of trim I think??? Nothing much else.
RedRobin
....I never thought I'd like a Mercedes, but this looks cool:
lottiefox
As far as I know the SLK 350 AMG just had body styling and different wheels - but I'm not sure they are the exact same as the AMG wheels that my neighbour has on his one. Thinking of getting one then FC? Has anyone driven an SLK 350? I've read such mixed reports but a part of me does think they look pretty foxy with the roof down. fatcat
would I get one...... heaven forbid... Nah,a neighbour of ours has a 350 and it does look good, but if I were to go for any MB then it would have to be an AMG... and a 350 AMG would do the trick, but not one that is 'only' adorned with a bodykit and some tarty wheels. It would have to have quite a bit more Ommmmmph So, until a 'real' 350 AMG comes along, I shall relegate it to the category of 'what if'....... JAYDR32
My GF has a 350 with the AMG kit, lovely car and quick enough with to 60 in 5.7, makes a nice noise as well. Why not just go for the full cream version? Becoming more afforable now... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/199659.htm
330dcoupe
If I were a Mercedes (real) AMG owner - i'd be a bit peeved off to see 'normal' Mercs being badges AMG. Surely this is downgrading to AMG brand, no?
Mook
It might be if all you see it the badge, but the number has a lot to do with it - i.e. CL55 AMG, rather than CL500 AMG

M-sport this and that on lower spec models, so you have all the M spec stuff minus the engine. Does take away some of the kudos off these premium products. AudiPartner
These latest AMG styled Mercs are lovely. I saw a CLK today, not a proper AMG, but with the AMG kit and wheels. Really stunning.
AudiPartner
Hold the phone, check this out. £25k! And its a "proper" one.

[/ QUOTE ] Dunno about later models, but I know some CLK55's weren't supercharged, 'just' a 350bhp or so N/A V8.
garcon magnifique
As far as I know, none of the CLK55's were supercharged.

[/ QUOTE ] Bingo - 367bhp (or could be 367/370 ps) N/A 5.5l V8 for all apart from the CLK DTM (for the know alls ) Waits patiently for a real know all to blow the man into the weeds Anyway, 367 nags is plenty

Ian_C
Indeed, fat wobbly Mercs with superchargers and torque converters are certainly not my cup of tea. Ian
330dcoupe
The CLK55 AMG's were NOT supercharged - they used the same setup currently running in the SLK55 - The only CLK55's that were supercharged were the DTM models. Mercedes have never supercharged they're CL's as far as I'm aware - probably because they would take business away from the SL models - not to mention the fact that they have a rubbish chassis :-)

[/ QUOTE ] I think you should have a go in the CLS55 AMG - in sports mode - you will soon start thinking twice [/ QUOTE ] Oh I'm certainly not going to deny that if I drove one I'd be laughing out loud at the windscreen due to the endless acceleration. It would be very fun! However, I would never buy one though. I'm more of an Audi man, and if - heaven forbid - Audi disappeared off the face of the planet tomorrow, the M5 exists. The CLS is no doubt nice and grippy, but the S8 / RS4 / M5 are in a different league. You don't have to drive one to know that. Ian

Ian_C
In terms of driver satisfaction, feedback through the drivers seat, the seat itself, handling balance, lateral G, the choice of a manual gearbox, traction control you can fully disable........
