ED 30 GTi - Wheel Choice

OK - So I have an Edition 30 GTi and I am chuffed to bits with it - BUT...

I do not like the ED30 BBS wheels - I much prefer the standard 18" GTi Alloy (Monzas)

So I am looking to buy another set of wheels - I have seen a set of replica 19" Monzas - which I think will look stunning on the car, although I am wary of replica wheels and the extra weight/structural strength issues. So if I want to avoid issues over quality I guess I could buy some 19" BBS CH etc etc

What I really would like is some 19" OEM Monzas - which do not exist...

So, I am faced with the option of going to VW and ordering the 18" Monzas I guess... which are probably something like £300+ a corner.

Can anyone recommend a quality set of wheels (BBS, Speedline etc ) in 19" format before I rush out and buy the Monzas.

I have 18" replicas and weighed them against the originals and the weight difference is minimal. Finish is fine but much much cheaper. If you damage a replica it is so much cheaper to replace and as you say you can get 19" reps. Loads of guys on here say bad things about reps and it has been discussed but a lot of that is based upon their feelings and beleiving all the marketing blurb regarding the original BBS items. Just my opinion of course.

Beware also of the worm on the original VW Monzas.....if you buy secondhand wheels you have no warranty and if you buy new from VW as an afterthought for your car you will only have one year warranty. All of these issues helped push me towards the replicas as well and so far I feel my decision has been 100% correct.

They look like this....

Not sure on the part number, however I am sure someone will know. A few people have got their hands on them... You could even try someone like euroimports.co.uk, they may be able to get them cheaper through their VW dealer abroad perhaps. Even a set with tyres on. If not they can get you a brand new set of traditional monzas (I got mine from them)

But the black ones on a white car, oh yes, they would look great and would be in keeping with the ed 30 look.
